New Jefferson County Deputy Sworn In

In between cases on the criminal docket, Judge Linda Bauer administered the oath of office to the latest deputy of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Scott Chaput, on Wednesday, August 10.
Deputy Chaput hails from Frontier County and joins the Sheriff’s Office with his law enforcement certificate already in hand, meaning he won’t require any additional training before he can go to work.
In addition to human law enforcement, the Sheriff’s Office is also hoping to add a couple of four-legged officers to the K-9 Unit, dogs especially trained to assist with law enforcement duties.
Chaput expressed interest in involvement with the K-9 Unit, “I hope so. It would make my life complete.”
