No Sweat(er)

Her knitting classes at FJC have ended and, not unsurprisingly, she hasn't yet lost interest in this newest hobby.I'm sworn to the strictest secrecy concerning the precise nature of her current projects with yarn and needles.But don't be too surprised if, before spring arrives, I am seen ambling around town wearing one of Our Lady's creations. It will be easily recognizable. One sleeve of the sweater will be about elbow length, while the other will be dangling somewhere in the neighborhood of my knees.I'm unable at this early date to say what the dominant color will be. Much will depend upon what she has left over from the current projects. It probably will be a multi-colored sort of affair, with no particular hue overpowering the others.Cowardice prevents my saying very much about the volume of equipment and materials Our Lady has acquired thus far. It will suffice to note that at the rate she is stockpiling yarns of various weights, colors and textures, it appears Our Lady expects to be snowbound from December until about Easter.Remind me to throw away that Old Farmer's Almanac, with all its dire weather prognostications.Our Lady's current endeavors with yarn and needles has reminded me of one of her earlier—much earlier—attempts in a similar field.The apartment we occupied at the time had a hallway with uncommonly low clearance. If memory serves correctly, I had just about a quarter-inch headroom in the thing.Our Lady made a hooked rug, about two inches thick, and where do you think she placed it?You've guessed correctly. She put that overstuffed mat squarely in the hallway!I don't recall breaking any plastering nor rubbing much paint off the hallway ceiling. But I did leave a few dents in the woodwork—also in my forehead. Perhaps that accounts for my wasting time writing such nonsense as this.
