Odell Man Accused of Terroristic Threats Reaches Plea Agreement

An Odell man accused of terroristic threats has reached a plea agreement that allows him to avoid a felony count.Jaron M. Hormann, age 43, was originally charged with two counts of terroristic threats, class 3A felonies punishable by up to three years in prison, 18 months of post-release supervision and up to a $10,000 fine for each count. He was also charged with three counts of disturbing the peace, one count of reckless driving and one count of criminal mischief, all class 3 misdemeanor, each punishable by three months in jail and a $500 fine.On April 20, 2023, Gage County deputies were dispatched to the scene of a vehicle complaint near the intersection of Perry and Garfield Streets in Odell at approximately 10:02 p.m.According to the arrest affidavit, deputies were “advised that a black GMC Yukon was driving reckless, went through a backyard.”The affidavit noted, “Dispatch advised that this vehicle was now stopped in the backyard of the male driver's residence and the male was screaming profanities.”The deputy that filled out the affidavit wrote that he spoke to witnesses, one of whom, “advised me that the driver tore through his own yard, tore the bush up, tried to take his dog out, almost hit a male walking on the street smashed into something in his backyard and kept driving up the street at approximately 60-80 mph.”The deputy made contact with the suspect, later identified as Jaron Hormann, according to his driver's license. According to the deputy, “I went over and looked at Jaron's GMC Yukon and I observed mud and grass on the Yukon. This Yukon had no plates and matched the descriptions of the reporting panics.”Hormann was arrested at the scene.According to the affidavit, “I transported Jaron Hofmann to the Gage County Detention Center to be lodged on his charges. Upon arrival to the detention center, the correctional staff wanted Jaron to be medically cleared. I transported Jaron to the Beatrice Community Hospital (BCH) to be cleared to be housed. While medical staff were attending to Jaron at BCH. Jaron had another outburst of yelling profanities toward nursing staff. A medical clearance was not fully completed due to Jaron's behaviors.”Hormann was then transported to the Gage County detention Center.In accordance with the plea agreement, one of the felony charges was reduced to third degree assault. The second felony and two of the three disturbing the peace charges were dismissed. Hormann pleaded No Contest to the remaining charges.Sentencing is scheduled for October 6, 2023.
