Sally Jeanne Richardson Hull

Sally Jeanne Richardson Hull, aged 76, passed away on June 12, 2024 in Petersburg, Virginia, surrounded by her loving children and eldest grandchild. Sally was born on December 20,1947 in Fairbury, Nebraska. She spent her formative years there, attending Fairbury Elementary School and High School. At school, Sally enjoyed many friends and activities. She was an enthusiastic member of TRI-Y Club, a cabinet member for four years, co-editor of the Blazer (school paper), copy editor of the Trail (yearbook), a member of Pep Club, a letter girl, a member of choir, Prom Server, Prom Queen, Blazer Queen, a member of the Royal Court, and, of course, a cheerleader. She also attended Fairbury Junior College where she participated in a local pageant and won Miss Jefferson County. Sally's first love was baseball, the result of her father playing in the minor leagues during her younger years. Sally found joy in the simple pleasures of the game, whether cheering on her favorite team, the Kansas City Royals, or discussing team strategies and players, all while texting her sister Torry. Sally's hobbies included crafting, gardening, drawing, writing, and cooking for family and friends, but dancing was her passion. She and her brother Rick could be found dancing in their parents’ basement, at school dances or anywhere music was playing. These activities reflected her creativity and love for nurturing growth, both in her projects and her relationships. She often gifted family and friends with her beautiful creations. One of the greatest gifts Sally shared with others was her contagious laughter, which brought joy to all who were lucky to hear it. Being in her presence was like being enveloped in the warmest hug possible. Sally dedicated many years to the hospitality industry, where she was known for her warmth and enthusiasm. Her career allowed her to touch the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on both colleagues and guests. When Sally married her husband Bill, she managed his dental practice. During the many years she worked with Bill and his staff, she created an atmosphere of family in the workplace for everyone. Sally is survived by her loving family, including her children Angee (Tommy) Lewandowski, Chandler, AZ, Cayce Buchanan, Petersburg, VA, Donne (Sarah) Buchanan, Alabaster, AL, TK Buchanan Jr., Petersburg, VA, her grandchildren Lauren Hufner (Bradley Poore), Dylan Buchanan, Gabriel Buchanan, Will Buchanan, Chloe Lewandowski, and her great-grandchildren Brandon N. Hufner Jr., Ally Hufner and Tate Poore. She also leaves behind her brother Rick Scott, Enid, OK, her sister Torry (Chris) Thelen, Wood River, NE, her in-laws Darrel and Donna Hull, Lincoln, NE and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sally was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill Hull, her parents Virgil and Betty Richardson, her sister-in-law Tina Scott and her grandson-in-law Brandon Neal Hufner Sr. Sally's legacy of kindness, creativity and love for baseball will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her. A memorial service, where friends and family will gather to honor Sally's memory and celebrate her life, will be held in Fairbury, Nebraska at a later date.
