Search Warrant Results in Three Arrests in Fairbury

Three individuals were arrested early Friday morning after execution of a search warrant in Fairbury.
On December 19, 2025, at approximately 8:05 a.m., deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at the residence on H Street. The warrant was the result of an investigation into the residence and the occupants.
Three suspects were arrested. Amber Young, age 34, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence, both class 4 felonies punishable by up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Joshua Wilcox, age 37, was also arrested at the residence along with Annie Caroon, age 38.


All three individuals were transported and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. Young was booked in for her Jefferson County Warrant and new charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, a class 1D felony punishable by up to 50 years in prison. Wilcox was also booked for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Caroon was booked for possession of methamphetamine.
This case is still under investigation at this time.


Amber Young’s Previous Charges
According to an arrest affidavit, a deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on August 18, 2025, shortly before 11:00 p.m., in Fairbury. Young was identified as the driver of the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle was a passenger. The owner consented to a search of the vehicle.
Young is charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Th deputy wrote in the affidavit, “A search of the passenger door compartment revealed an orange container, which contained a leavy green substance, which I knew from my training and experience to be marijuana. Zig-Zag rolling papers were in the center consol.”
In addition, a search of Young’s purse reportedly uncovered a plastic self-seal zip lock bag containing a white crystal substance.
On December 11, 2025, the deputy indicated he, “was notified that Amber Young had possibly planted narcotics in my patrol vehicle during her arrest.”
After reviewing video from a camera in the patrol vehicle, the deputy determined the suspect had stuffed a plastic bag “between the crease of the patrol vehicle’s seat.”
A warrant was then issued for her arrest.
Young also has a prior conviction in 2021 for attempted possession of a controlled substance, a class 1 misdemeanor. She was sentenced to 12 months of probation.


Wilcox’s Criminal History
This is also not Wilcox’s first brush with the law.
On June 24, 2022, Wilcox was arrested by the Beatrice Police Department for theft of more than $5000, a class 2A felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison. He was accused of taking wedding cards with money inside that were received as gifts from the reception room rented at a Holiday Inn Express for a wedding.
In accordance with a plea agreement, Wilcox pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of theft of less than $5,0000, a class 4 felony. He was sentenced to two years in prison and 12 months of post-release supervision.
