Season Begins To Wind Down For Area Legion Squads

The Clifton Clyde Seniors could not handle the steady offense of the Fairbury Landsharks on July 16. Fairbury picked up a 7-2 win. After one inning, Fairbury was up 3-2 and in the second inning, the Landsharks mustered two runs to go up 5-2. Fairbury tacked on a run in the fifth and one in the sixth to secure the win.Fairbury had a 4-3 hit advantage in the game. Jamison Runge had one hit, three RBI while Blayne Schelbitzki had one hit and Dakotah Neumiller had one hit and one RBI.Dom Joe had one hit and two RBI while Miles Tatro had one RBI. Runge knocked in a double for Fairbury and Grady Chappel had two stolen bases. On the mound, Fairbury pitcher Dom Joe was a machine, pitching a full game and had 15 strikeouts in the game.In the second half of the double header against Clifton Clyde, Fairbury won 3-1 with consistent hitting throughout. The Landsharks scored one run in each of the first three innings and held Clifton Clyde scoreless until the seventh inning.Miles Tatro led Fairbury with two hits while Dakotah Neumiller had one hit, one RBI, as did Grady Chappell. Neumiller and Asher Myers each had a stolen base in the contest.Blayne Schelbitzki lit up the Clifton Clyde hitters on the mound for Fairbury, pitching a full game and had 15 strikeouts in the contest.On July 17, Fairbury lost to the Lincoln Rangers, 2-6. Fairbury was up 1-0 after on inning and that lead held until the third when Lincoln scored three runs. Lincoln was up 4-2 in the fourth but pushed in two runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach for the Landsharks. Chappell and Schelbitzki each had one hit while Dom Joe had two hits and one RBI. Neumiller had one hit while Tatro again helped carry the offense with two hits and one RBI to match Joe.Jamison Runge and Neumiller each had a stolen base against the Rangers.Chappell and CJ Goeking each had four strikeouts on the mound for Fairbury. On July 16 Lincoln Lutheran blanked Tri County 3-0. Lincoln scored one run in the first and second inning and a final run in the sixth.Maddox Haake had the lone hit for Tri County. Pitching for Tri County, Tayden Gronemeyer and Cole Spahr each had three strikeouts.The Hebron Seniors battled the Wymore Diller Odell (WDO) Seniors on July 17 in a very close contest. WDO slipped away with a 6-5 win. WDO was up 1-0 on the first and then up 2-1 in the second inning. WDO upped the lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning but Hebron kept things close with a 1-0 fifth inning to cut the lead to 4-2. WDO scored a run in the sixth to go up 5-2 when Hebron made a huge comeback, scoring three runs in the seventh. However, WDO scored a single run in the seventh to win the contest.For Hebron, Colter Sinn had two hits, while Brady Degenhardt had one hit, one RBI. Brayden Gausman had one hit and Kohen Gausman had two hits. Cole Vorderstrasse had one hit, one RBI for Hebron while Kyler Boyles had one hit. Dayne Clark ended the game with one hit, two RBI for Hebron. Sinn knocked in a double for Hebron.Pitching for Hebron included Kamden Boyles, getting nine strikeouts.For WDO, on the mound, D Troxel had 10 strikeouts while Callan KcKinney and Peyton Denner each had two.Offensively, Hunter Pollman led WDO with two hits, one RBI. Troxel had one hit, one RBI and Peyton Denner had one hit, one RBI for WDO. On July 18, Hebron lost to Wilber Legion Post 101 1-6. Wilber was up 2-0 after the second inning and up 3-1 after the fourth inning. A 1-0 fifth and 2-0 sixth put the game away for Wilber.For Hebron on offense, Kyler Boyles had one hit, one RBI. Dayne Clark had one stolen base for Hebron.Kyler Boyles had four strikeouts for Hebron on the mound. For Wilber, Lexand Baker had 10 strikeouts on the mound.Offense for Wilber was provided by Graysen Vlcan with one hit, one RBI, Aven Smith had one hit as did Chase Tachovsky and RJ Klaasen and Collin Kohout.Aven Smith had three stolen bases for Wilber.Hebron lost 0-9 to Sutton on July 20. Brayden Gausman had one hit for Hebron. Landyn Tuma had three strikeouts for Hebron on the mound.
