Season Heating Up As It Winds Down

Landsharks Battle ZKEWrapping up the regular season and preparing for Districts had Fairbury Landsharks hosting ZKE on Wednesday, July 10 as that game reached a final score of 4-15.Fairbury was able to have three hits in the game with Blayne Schelbitzki leading the team going two for three with one of those hits being a double and had three RBI. Jamison Runge was able to go one for three and brought in one RBI. Blayne Schelbitzki took the loss going six innings allowing 12 hits with eight runs(five earned) with one walk and nine strikeouts.Fairbury looks to bring the regular season to a close as they host BDS on Thursday, July 18.Wilber Splits Against AdamsThe Wilber Legion Post 101 was able to go 1-1 in the double header on the road on Tuesday, July 9 against Adams. Despite winning the hitting battle 7-4, the five errors for Wilber proved to be a big problem as the first game reached a final score of 2-7. Wilber would bounce back with a solid win in the second game as they would rack up an even dozen hits en-route to getting a 17-5 victory.From the second game, the duo Carter Skleba and Jack Zimmerman led the team at the plate as both would go three for five on the day. Skleba was able to have one double, while Zimmerman had two doubles and led the team driving in five RBI. Nick Jacobson and Aven Smith were each able to contribute two RBI while Ozzie Smith contributed one RBI. Grabbing the win on the mound for Wilber was Lexand Baker as the left-handed pitcher was able to go three innings allowing one hit and three runs with two walks and one strikeout. Cash Kesslar would come into relief for two innings as he allowed two hits, two runs (one earned) with one walk and four strikeouts.Wilber will close out the regular season on the road as they face David City on Thursday, June 18 and then Sutton on Saturday, July 20.Tri County Hosting Clubs To End SeasonThe Tri County Senior Legion will be hosting Tecumseh on Saturday, July 20 and then on Tuesday, July 23 will host UBC to close out the regular season.
