Senator Deb Fischer Seeks Re-Election

U.S. Senator Deb Fischer, Republican, of Nebraska officially launched her bid for re-election to a third term in the U.S. Senate on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.
The Senator was introduced by former Nebraska Governor Kay Orr at a press conference held at the State Capital in Lincoln. Several prominent Republicans stood with Senator Fischer, including Governor Jim Pillen.
Fischer was elected to the Senate in 2012 and re-elected in 2018.
Both of Nebraska’s Senate seats are up for re-election in 2024. Former Nebraska Governor and current Senator Pete Ricketts is also running. He was appointed to Senate by current Governor Pillen after his term as governor expired.
Currently, Fischer has no challengers, although Jane Kleeb, Chair of the Nebraska Democrat Party, recently said, “We do have a couple of candidates and several others who are talking about it. So, you’ll start to see those announcements I think in late fall, but we will absolutely have a Democrat challenging Ricketts who was appointed, and we will have a Democrat challenging Fischer as well.”
