Several Tight Finishes For Area Squads

Tri County had a strong showing on offense on July 1 with a 20-9 win over Wymore Diller Odell (WDO).Tri County was up 8-0 after the first inning and was up 9-2 after the second inning.In the third inning Tri County scored eight runs and WDO had three. A 3-2 fourth inning put Tri County in full control.Henry Kapke had two hits and one RBI for Tri Couty while Jason Wehrman had one hit, two RBI. Cooper Stokebrand had three hits and one RBI for Tri County.Jayton Jones led Tri County with three hits and six RBI. Cole Spahr had two hits, one BRI as did Zac Strein. Alex Paxton had one hit, two RBI for Tri County.Spahr had two doubles and Stokebrand had one double.Paxton had two strikeouts on the mound for Tri County. For WDO Logan Penner had two hits, one RBI and Zach Schnuelle had two hits, four RBI. Cooper Morgan had two hits and one RBI while Hunter Pollman had one hit, one RBI.Braydin Wendland had a triple in the contest for WDO. Callan McKinney had three stolen bases for WDO.The Fairbury Landsharks won a battle against Sutton on July 2. Both squads were scoreless after one inning and were tied at 1-all in the second inning. A 4-1 sixth inning scoring flurry put the Landsharks up for good and won 5-2.Grady Chappell had two hits, one RBI and Blayne Schelbitzki had one hit and three RBI. Miles Tatro had two hits and Dakota Zimmerman had one hit. Schelbitzki had a double for Fairbury.Dom Joe dominated on the mound for Fairbury, racking up nine strikeouts. Wilber lost a heartbreaker 8-9 on July 1 against Friend. Going up 2-0 in the second inning, Wilber would fire back and go up 3-2 in the third inning. Friend was down 5-4 in the fifth inning and then tied the game at 7-all in the sixth inning. In the seventh inning, Friend slipped by with a 2-1 inning.Owen Smith had two hits, two RBI, Aven Smith has one hit and two RBI. Lexand Baker and Brock Young each had one RBI. Collin Kohout had one hit for Wilber, a double. Kohout also had two stolen bases.On the mound for Wilber, Aven Smith was purely dominate. He had 10 strikeouts on the mound while Owen Smith had three strikeouts for Wilber.On July 2, Tri County defeated Wilber 9-0. Tri County was up 5-0 after one inning and 7-0 after two innings. Tri County would tack on two runs in the fourth inning.Aven Smith and Owen Smith each had two hits. Allen Roger had two stolen bases. Lexand Baker had four strikeouts on the mound for Wilber. For Tri County, Pierce Damrow had two hits, two RBI as did Cooper Stokebrand. Henry Kapke had two hits, Cole Spahr two hits and one RBI and Jayton Jones had one hit, two RBI.Kapke had three stolen bases for Tri County and Spahr, Stokebrand and Damrow each had a double.Spahr had two strikeouts pitching for Tri County.On Sunday, July 6, Tecumseh slipped by the Fairbury Landsharks 5-3. Both squads were tied at 1-all after one inning. Tecumseh went up 4-1 in the third inning but Fairbury scored two runs in the sixth, down 3-4. Tecumseh tacked on a run in the seventh for the final tally. Jamison Runge had two hits for the Landsharks and Dom Joe had two hits and two RBI. Miles Tatro had two hits for the Landsharks. Blayne Schelbitzki had one hit, one RBI. CJ Goeking had eight strikeouts for Fairbury. Also on Sunday, Friend defeated Hebron 9-7. Hebron was down 6-1 in the third and scored six runs in the sixth inning to make the game tight but two runs by Friend put the game away.Kohen Gausman had one hit and one RBI for Hebron. Picking up RBI for Hebron included Dylan Williams, Cole Vorderstrasse, Kyler Boyles and Aden Morris.On the mound for Hebron, Gausman and Boyles each had three strikeouts. Wymore Diller Odell (WDO) slipped by Legion Post 171 on Sunday, 3-2. WDO scored three runs in the second inning and held off a 2-0 sixth inning by Post 171 to get the win.Jacob Ward had one RBI for WDO. Hunter Pollman had three stolen bases for WDO. Peyton Denner had four strikeouts for WDO.
