Jeffs Shut Out Falls CityThe Fairbury Lady Jeffs were able to get back on track with the offense and defense as they dominated Falls City, 10-0, on Sept. 24. For the Lady Jeff offense, those ten runs would come by way of eight total hits, six runs blasted in the first inning, followed by two runs coming in the second and third innings. The duo of Izzy Ohlde and Sam Schmidt were able to go two-for-two at the plate. Ohlde led the team with three RBI, while Schmidt along with Iaunna Lucking, Aubrie Hynek and Mailee Garner each contributed one RBI. Getting the win on the mound was Sam Schmidt going four innings surrendering six hits and finished with eight strikeouts.On Sept. 26 Fairbury would face Southern-Diller-Odell. Fairbury won 15-5. From that game notable efforts came from Sam Schmidt, going three-for-four at the plate with two grand-slams and finished with a total of eight RBI. Unfortunately Fairbury would lose the second game 0-8.Fairbury hosted the S.N.C. tournament on Sept. 28. The Lady Jeffs showed great grit going 2-1 on the day, finishing third. Fairbury started the day off with a solid 7-3 victory against Wilber-Clatonia, but lost 2-7 against Milford. Fairbury ended the tournament against F.C.E.M.F and showed that grit with a 8-6 win. From the tournament, top performances came by Logan Wentz going four-for-nine, one of those hits being a home run with one RBI. Izzy Ohlde would go six-of-nine at the plate with three RBI, and Addison Marschman was able to hit one home-run as well as she finished the weekend with one RBI. Thunder Win Over W-CThe Southern-Diller-Odell Thunder won-out against Wilber-Clatonia on Sept. 24 as the S.D.O took the first game 12-10 and then dominated in the next game with a 13-3 win. In the first game, an astounding 20 hits in total for the Thunder.The duo of Azlynn Stevens and Reegan Lauby were able to go a perfect five-for-five at the plate and have one RBI, with at least one of those hits being a double. The trio of Gabby Long, Reece Barnard and Scarlett Steensnes each went two-for-five at the plate. Scarlett Steensnes would lead the team with five RBI. Morgan Steensnes, Maddie Parde, Mya Frase and Maddie Rosebaugh would each have one hit. Reegan Lauby got the win on the mound going seven innings, allowing 10 hits with seven runs (two earned) with seven strikeouts.In the second game, for a 13-3 victory, S.D.O offense was led by Reece Barnard as she finished with three RBI. Mya Frase and Azlynn Stevens each brought in two RBI and Maddie Parde would have one RBI. Lauby would get the win on the mound going four innings allowing five hits, three runs (three earned) with three strikeouts.S.D.O would lose the first game 5-15, but bounced back as they shutout Fairbury 8-0. From that game, top efforts came by Gabby Long and Reece Barnard as they each would go two-for-three at the plate. Barnard, along with Scarlett Steensnes each had two RBI. Reegan Lauby was able to pitch five innings and allowed only four hits, one walk and had one strikeout. Wolverines Go 0-2The Wilber-Clatonia Lady Wolverines went 0-2 in double-header action on the road against Southern-Diller-Odell Thunder on Sept. 24. W-C would fall in the first game 10-12, but would then lose the second game 3-13. Notable efforts from the first game came by Aubrey Ninneman going three-for-five at the plate and had one RBI. The duo of Kia Chlupacek and Marlee Lloyd each had two hits as well. Chlupacek and Maddux Johnson were each able to have one big with a home-run.Aubrey Ninneman took the loss on the mound as she would give up 20 hits, 11 runs(seven earned) with six walks and three strikeouts. In the second game, Marlee Lloyd would go two-for-two, while Alexis Kreshel, Savannah Lowery, and Peyton Mischnick would each have one hit for W-C. The Wolverines looked to the SNC softball tournament at Fairbury on Sept. 28. W-C had a mixed bag going 1-1 as they would lose the first game 3-7 against Fairbury, but would win 4-0 against Centennial.
