Thunder Faces FCEMFThe Southern-Diller-Odell Thunder gave a great effort in the end, but fell short in the 2-6 loss to F.C.E.M.F on Thursday, September 5.A total of five hits for the Thunder with those being contributed by Reegan Lauby, Maddie Parde, Mya Frase, Azlynn Stevens and Madie Rosebaugh. Frase would lead the team with two RBI. Lauby would take the loss on the mound going six innings, surrendering six runs(four earned) on eight hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.On Saturday, September 7 S.D.O Thunder would travel to the Auburn Invite. The S.D.O Thunder would grab their first pair of victories as they finish as runners up going 2-1 on the day. The only loss would come by Auburn with that final score reaching 6-18.For the two wins, S.D.O would have to fight for a 5-3 win against Plattsmouth and a 9-7 victory against Nebraska City. From that invite, notable efforts were made by Azlynn Stevnes as she would finish the weekend with six hits, six of nine at the plate and scored one run. Reegan Lauby would finish with six hits, six of eight at the plate with one RBI, and three runs scored. Maddie Parde would have four RBI, going three of nine at the plate. While Gabby Long went four for seven, scoring five runs.The S.D.O Thunder will be at Auburn on Sept. 12. Jeffs Host InviteThe Fairbury Lady Jeffs are looking to bounce back after being shut out 0-10 against Crete on the road Tuesday, September 3. With hopes of being able to get back on track, the Jeffs softball geared up to host the Fairbury Invite on Saturday, September 7.The Jeffs would have a slow start to the day, losing the first game against Milford with the final score reaching 1-10. Notable efforts from that game came by Regan Kapke going two for three being the one run scored by a double that was hit by Izzy Ohlde in the top of the first. Fairbury would lose the next game by score of 2-17 against F.C.E.M.F. In that game a total of five hits from Fairbury, Rylee Gill, Izzy Ohlde, Addison Marschman, Abigail Hynek, and Jordin Gill contributed one hit. Gill would lead the team with the two RBI, as Gill and Marschman with their one hit from each would be a double. Fairbury would bounce back at the end and find their rhythm as they were able to get the win against Centennial with a final score reaching 11-6.A total of eight hits and nine RBI being brought in by the Jeffs.Izzy Ohlde would lead the way by going two for three at the plate with her two hits being doubles. Ohlde would score two runs and bring in two RBI. The duo of Addison Marschman and Abigail Hynek would each contribute two RBI as well, coming away with one hit and drawing one walk each. Rylee Gill, Sam Schmidt, Logan Wentz, and Mailee Garner would each have one hit. Garner and Wentz would each contribute two runs scored, along with Sam Schmidt as the trio would each have one RBI.Sam Schmidt would grab the win on the mound as she would go five innings allowing four hits, six runs(one earned) with one walk, and four strikeouts. From the weekend in its entirety, Sam would also contribute offensively, going two for four at the plate with one RBI.Fairbury will be at home on Thursday, September 12 and then hit the road on Saturday, September 14 at the Ashland-Greenwood tournament.
