Southern Schools District Selects Interim Superintendent
Southern Schools District has selected Dr. Virginia Moon to serve as interim superintendent.
The appointment was approved at a meeting of the Board of Education the evening of Monday, March 10, 2025. She was selected over another candidate, Fred Helmink, a former superintendent at Fairbury Public Schools.
Moon was superintendent at Ralston Public Schools for 11 years before retiring in 2009. Since then, she has served as interim superintendent for public school districts in Auburn, Broken Bow, Centennial, Kearney and Omaha.
Dr. Moon will be replacing Superintendent Dr. Christopher Prososki, who has accepted a position as superintendent for Hastings Public Schools. He has been superintendent at Southern Public Schools in the Wymore/Blue Springs area since 2017.
