Starting Off The Season On The Right Foot

Wilber-Clatonia and Tri County both competed at the Doane Indoor Invite on Friday in Crete. The W-C girls were 10th and the Tri County girls were fifth. For the boys, Tri County finished third and W-C was second.For the boys, Cash Keslar was third in the 60 meter hurdles (:9.32) and won the 400 meter dash (:54.42) while teammate Grayson Vlcan was second (54.45). Keslar was second in the 200 meter dash (:24.2).Tri County sophomore Sam Holsing was tops in the 3200 meters (10:37.51). Continuing to show their prowess in the distance races, Grant Eschiti of W-C won the 800 meters (2:10.6) but had Drew Siems of T.C. right on his back for second (2:11.51).Tri County’s Henry Kapke was fourth in the 800 meters (2:12.76) with W-C’s Grayson Vlcan close behind in fifth (2:18.09). Evan Odvody of W-C finished second in the 1600 meters (5:03.56).The 4x400 meter relay team for W-C, consisting of Grayson Vlcan, Aiden Wright, Grant Eschiti and Cash Keslar were second (3:43.28).It was a very close race in the 4x800 meter relay as Tri County narrowly edged W-C. T.C. had a time of 8:42.74 while W-C was at 8:42.738. T.C.’s squad consisted of Drew Siems, Sammy Holsing, Devon Rasmussen and Henry Kapke was W-C had Jameson Conway, Beau Odvody, Evan Odvody and Grant Eschiti.Cole Spahr of T.C. was third in the pole vault (11’6”). Cooper Stokebrand of T.C. was third in shot put (47’ 2”).On the girls’ side, Sage Holtmeier of T.C. was third in the 800 meters (2:33.89) and teammate Isabelle Peters was third in the 1600 meters (6:01.09).Ashton Schwisow, Meila Gronemeyer, Aubrey Siems and Sage Holtmeier made up T.C’s 4x400 meter relay team that took second (4:40.57).Kennadee VanWinkle of T.C. was second in the pole vault (9’6”). Stephanie Zajicek of W-C was fourth in the shot put (31’ 3.75”).
