Suspect Arrested After Search Warrant Appears in Court

One of three suspects arrested on drug charges after the execution of a search warrant earlier this month appeared in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge.Troy John, age 54, of Fairbury, was arraigned on charges of possession of methamphetamine, a class 4 felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction.Saturday morning, on March 9, 2024, at approximately 7:11 a.m., deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at a residence on 7th Street in Fairbury. This search warrant was related to a narcotics investigation into the occupants of the residence and the residence itself.The sheriff's office reported that, during the search, numerous items of contraband were seized. A total of three individuals were located within the residence when the warrant was served: Troy John; Ronald John, age 57; and Blanche Cain, age 62. All three were arrested at the scene and transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where they were booked in on the charges of possession of controlled substance (exceptionally hazardous), possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, unlawful acts relating to drugs, possession of deadly weapon by a prohibited person, and possession of drug paraphernalia.The defendant is represented by Public Defender Scott Gropp.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 8.Ronald John was also scheduled to be arraigned on March 27 but his case was continued until April 3.
