Thayer County Pursuit Leads to Three Arrests

On March 29,2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., deputies with the Thayer County Sheriff’s Office attempted to make a traffic stop in the area of Highway 81 and County Road S. According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle fled on County Road S and was pursed by deputies for approximately seven miles. The pursuit ended when the driver finally stopped and was taken into custody.The driver was identified as David Loren Ebke, age 61, of Fairbury. During their investigation, deputies obtained probable cause to search the vehicle. Deputies reported finding suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and other proceeds of suspected illegal activity.While on scene, an individual known by arrested subject arrived at the scene. This subject, Zackery Youngs, age 34, was arrested on separate charges when it was learned he was driving an unregistered vehicle as well as driving on a suspended operator’s license.A subsequent search warrant was obtained and served in the early morning hours of March 30, 2024. Thayer County deputies, with the assistance of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, executed the warrant at a residence in Alexandria. The warrant reportedly resulted in further contraband being located, including a Polaris 4x4 off-road vehicle, which had alegedly been stolen out of Gage County.An individual at the residence, Barbara Seefus, age 58, was arrested for possession of stolen property.Seefus was lodged in the Saline County Jail while Youngs and Ebke were lodged in the Thayer County Jail.As a result of this investigation the suspects are facing the following charges:David Ebke:•Possession of a Controlled Substance.•Fleeing in Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest.•Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.•Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.Barbara Seefus:•Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.•Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.Zackery Youngs:•Driving During Suspension.Ebke also case cases pending in Jefferson and Gage Counties.
