Thunder Rumble By Wolverines 7-6

The Wilber-Clatonia Lady Wolverines nearly mounted a comeback but lost 6-7 to Southern/Diller-Odell Thunder on Tuesday, September 19.W-C found themselves in the hole as S.D.O was able to score four runs in the first inning.However, the Lady Wolverines showed they were ready to fight as with one swing of the bat by Gianna Ellis-Erickson sent the ball flying over the left field for a home run bringing in three RBI.Ellis-Erickson led the team going three-for-four with one double to go along with the one home run as she had four RBI driven in. Tatiana Meza and Aubrey Ninneman each had gone two-for-four and scored two runs. Emma Walker, Delaney Mazza, and Stephanie Novak each had one hit to the teams 10 total hits. Novak led the team with two steals, while Gianna Ellis-Erickson, Tatiana Meza and Aubrey Ninneman each had one stolen base as well.W-C will be gearing up for the SNC Conference on Saturday, September 23 as W-C will be taking on Centennial in the first match of the day at 10 a.m. Jeffs Pick Up Come-From-Behind Win:The Fairbury Lady Jeffs had a roller-coaster of a week as they were on the road Monday, September 18 against Adams Central, losing 1-13.On the road for Tuesday, September 19 Fairbury was on the road again going against Falls City. The first inning was a sign of a long game ahead for the Lady Jeffs as they found themselves in a hole down 0-8.Fortunately the top of the second is where Fairbury came alive as they would score a whopping 10 runs to erase the deficit and grab a two run lead. The two teams would battle it out to a stand-still for the next two innings, but Fairbury would pour more on as they scored three in the top of the fifth inning.Falls City would then score two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but Fairbury would score two runs in the top of the seventh as the Lady Jeffs put the nail in the coffin for the 15-10 victory.Patience paid big dividends as the Lady Jeffs were able to draw eight walks as a team all the while racking up a total of 14 hits. Fairbury was led by Addy Marschman hitting three-for-four at the plate, and was able to bring in two RBI. A multitude of Lady Jeffs had multiple hits with Maylayne DeBoer leading the team with four RBI as she went two-for-three with one of her hits being a triple. Maddie Ohlde was able to go two-for-five scoring one run while having two RBI, and Logan Wentz went two-for-five, brought in two RBI and found herself in great position to lead Fairbury scoring four runs.Autumn L’Ecuyer was able to two-for-three, drawing two talks, had one stolen base, scored two runs and brought in two RBI with her biggest hit being a home run over the center field. Izzie Ohlde contributed one hit with that being a double, scored one run, and brought in two RBI as she went one-for-threeat the plate. Regan Kapke went one for three scoring one run, brought in one RBI, had one stolen base, and drew three walks while Lexi Mau went one-for-four and scored two runs. Autumn L’Ecuyer was on the mound going six innings allowing six hits, five runs, with six walks, and two strikeouts. Thunder Rolls:The Southern/Diller-Odell Thunder battled and pulled off a hard-fought win 7-6 against Wilber-Clatonia on Tuesday. S.D.O was able to jump off to a hot start scoring four runs in the first inning, had one run in the second, one run in the third, and finally had one more run in the top of the sixth to pull of the victory.Only Mya Frase was able to get multiple hits as Frase went two-for-four at the plate driving in one RBI. Karrigan Henrichs, Azlynn Stevens, Scarlett Steensnes, and Jaidyn Allington each had one hit. Allington one hit was a triple and the only extra base hit for her team that drove in her one RBI.Reegan Lauby was on the mound getting the win going the whole seven innings allowing nine hits, six runs, (four earned) and had an even 10 strikeouts.
