Tri County Dominates In MUDECAS Win

The Tri County Lady Trojans were on a roll in the MUDECAS tournament as they swept up the competition on the way to the championship in the “B” division.Tri County would make quick work 2-0 against Lewiston on Sept. 16 in the first round and then would sweep Southern in the second round 2-0. Finally getting back to the MUDECAS championship after two years away from finishing as runner up in 2022. Tri County left no doubt as they completed a full sweep in the MUDECAS tournament as they claim the “B” division championship with a dominant sweep 2-0 against Sacred Heart on Sept. 19.Notable efforts from the tournament came by Sayber Hoesche as she would finish with 18 kills, two aces, one block, one assist and 14 digs. Olive Clark was able to lead the team in the tournament with 23 kills, had two aces, and 11 digs. Alaina Kopf proved to a viable asset in the serving part of the game as she was able to finish up with 11 aces from the tournament and Kopf also contributed 25 digs. Macey Gronemeyer made her impact known in the passing game as she would finish with a total of 36 assists, but had her hand in other aspects of the game with 12 digs, nine aces and six kills.Melia Gronemeyer wasn’t one to be left out of the action as she would have 24 assists, 12 kills, 12 digs, two blocks and four aces.Tri County would end the week competing at the Fairbury Invite as they would go 1-1 on the day winning 2-1 against Sutton and then were swept 0-2 against St. Cecilia.Tri County will be hitting the road as they face Elmwood-Murdock on Thursday. Jeffs Get Solid Win Over CentennialThe Fairbury Lady Jeffs were able to sweep on the road at Centennial on Sept. 17.The Jeffs had plenty of challenges through each set as they grabbed the first set win 25-16. The second set was a tougher fight with Fairbury winning 25-20 and then battle tested in the third set as Fairbury would edge out the 31-29 victory to complete the sweep.A solid night of serving as Fairbury would be able to serve up nine aces as a team. The duo of Evelyn Timmons and Taryn Hinman were able to each serve up three aces to lead Fairbury. The trio of Sam Starr, Destiny Vocelka and Alecia Bedlan would each have one ace as well. Hinman was able to have a great night of facilitating as she would have a career high of assists finishing with 39.Benefiting from those passes was Timmons and Vocelka as the two reaching double digits in kills. Timmons was able to lead the team with 24 kills and Vocelka was able to have an even 10. Defensively Vocelka would also have an even 10 digs, along with Timmons having 19 digs and Sam Starr led the team with 20 digs.Fairbury was looking to carry this into hosting their home invitational on Sept. 21.The Jeffs had a mix bag on the weekend as they would finish 2-1 at their home invite. They would lose the first game 1-2 against Raymond Central, but would bounce back sweeping 2-0 against Wilber-Clatonia and then fought to grab a 2-1 victory against Sutton.Fairbury taking those victories and momentum along with it will look to hosting Superior on Thursday.Raiders Pick Up WinThe Southern lady Raiders go 1-2 in the MUDECAS volleyball tournament as they would sweep Pawnee City in the first round 2-0 on Sept. 16, but were swept 0-2 against Tri County on Sept. 17 and then 0-2 against H.T.R.S on Sept. 19. Mustangs Have Rough MUDECASThe Meridian Lady Mustangs swept in both rounds of the MUDECAS as they would lose 0-2 against Johnson-Brock on Sept. 16 and then would be swept 0-2 against Diller-Odell on Sept. 17.Meridian will be back home hosting B.D.S.H.S on Thursday.Griffins Pick Up Sweeping VictoryThe Diller-Odell Lady Griffins struggle in the MUDECAS tournament as they go 1-2. D-O would lose 1-2 against B.D.S.H.S on Sept. 16, sweep 2-0 against Meridian on Sept. 17 and then were swept on Sept. 19 against Palmyra. D-O will head to Axtell, Kansas on Saturday.Titans Look Strong Over Sandy CreekThe Thayer Central Lady Titans able to sweep up on the road 3-0 against Sandy Creek on Sept. 17. Notable efforts in that game came by Ella Brueggemann as she would have an even dozen assists, nine digs, one block, led the team with four aces and led the team with 17 kills in a all-around effort. Piper Havel had six blocks and contributed five kills.Olivia Wiedel led the team with 18 assists, had one kill, two aces, and seven digs.Thayer Central will host Deshler on Thursday. W-C At Fairbury InviteThe Wilber-Clatonia Lady Wolverines swept in each game 0-2 at the Fairbury Invite on Sept. 21.
