Tri County Hires New Superintendent

Dr. Tiffanie Welte, Weeping Water Public School’s secondary principal, will take over the reins of Superintendent for Tri County Schools beginning July 1 of this year.Prior to working at Weeping Water, Dr. Welte has served as a middle and high school English teacher, assistant principal, and secondary education director in public schools of all sizes in both Missouri and Nebraska. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1992.Welte is replacing outgoing Tri County Superintendent Randy Schlueter, who is retiring after ten years on the job. He will be leaving his position on June 30.Schlueter made the announcement of his retirement at a Jefferson County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, when Commissioner Mark Schoenrock told him, “At the end of the day, we thank you, your administration, your staff, all the wonderful teachers, you know, for bringing up this rising generation. You have a challenge, and we appreciate you every day.”Schlueter first became the superintendent of Tri County Public Schools on July 1, 2012. He has a BS in Social Science, Geography, and Mathematics, a masters in C & I (Curriculum and Instruction) and a middle level endorsement and an administrative degree as a Specialist Certification in Educational Administration.Schoenrock asked, “What are you going to do on day one of retirement? What's the plan?”“I have plans in place of what I want to do to stay in education.” said Schlueter. He did not elaborate.
