Tri County Hosts SNC Meet

It was a picture perfect day for track on Saturday and the SNC meet, held at Tri County, saw area squads prepare for the state track meet in two weeks.The Thayer Central girls finished third overall (53) while Fairbury was fifth (50), Tri County seventh (45) and Wilber-Clatonia 12th (10).For the boys, Tri County finished second (79) while W-C was fourth (50) and Thayer Central fifth (41.5) and Fairbury sixth (38). For the ladies, Piper Havel continued to have strong showings in the 100 and 200 meter dash races. She won the 10m (:12.89) while Leah Havel was fifth (:13.57). In the 200m Havel was second (:26.27), just behind Kambri Andel of David City (:26.14). Leah Havel was fifth (:27.2).Micah Friesen of FHS was third in the 400m (1:02.07) while Sam Starr was sixth (1:02.92). Known for her distance running, Friesen was third in the 800m (2:24.22) and Starr sixth (2:28.04). Another long distance runner, Isabelle Peters of Tri County, was second in the 1600m (5:45.17) while Starr of FHS was fifth (5:50.41) and Friesen sixth (5:52.45). Tri County owned the girls 3200m run as Sage Holtmeier won (12:20.6) with Peters in second (12:21.61).Scoring team points for Tri County in the 10m hurdles was Rylee McCune (:18.05) while Haleah Schuerman of W-C was fifth in the 300m hurdles. Thayer Central’s girls 4x100m relay team won (:50.94) with Ryann Pulliam, Isabella Escritt and Leah and Piper Havel making up the team. W-C’s squad of Camille Nohavec, Claire Watson, Valerie Ninneman and Schuerman finished sixth (:53.88). Tri County and FHS were first and second, respectively, in the 4x800m relay. T.C. won (10:11.59) with Peters, Ashton Schwisow, Holtmeier and Aubrey Siems making up the team. FHS was second (10:15.97) with Friesen, Jaycee Prellwitz, Jordin Gill and Starr the team members.Sophomore Evelyn Timmons finished third in the high jump for Fairbury (4’8”) while Kennadee VanWinkle of Tri County was second in the pole vault (10’). Ryann Pulliam of Thayer Central was sixth (9’). Winning the girls long jump was Piper Havel of Thayer Central (17’9”) while Leah Havel was fifth (16’1”).FHS senior Regan Kapke finished her final SNC meet with a win in the triple jump (32’8”) while Valerie Ninneman of W-C was third (32’2”).Gaining 10 points for the Lady Jeffs was Autumn L’Ecuyer in the shot put (41’8.5”), soundly winning over Catelynn Bargen of Centennial (34’6.5”). Alexis Kreshel of W-C was sixth (30’7.5”). Laiklynn Heitmann of Thayer Central was second in the discus (99’9”).On the male side of the meet, Keyton Reck of Tri County was fourth in the 100m dash (:11.63) while Blake Gunn of Thayer Central was fifth in the 200m dash (:23.76).Cash Keslar of W-C won the 400m dash (:50.34) and teammate Grayson Vlcan was fourth (:53.72). Tri County had a great showing in the 800m with Drew Siems finishing second (2:02.68) and Henry Kapke fifth (2:05.23). Grant Eschiti of W-C was sixth (2:06.01). The Trojans also had a tremendous showing in the 1600m with Sammy Holsing finishing second (4:41.04) and Siems close behind in third (4:49.04). Evan Odvody of W-C was fifth (4:52.06) and Adam Lukert of Thayer Central sixth (4:55.75).Holsing was second for T.C. in the 3200m (10:02.13) while Lukert of Thayer Central was third (10:41.87) and Devon Rasmussen of W-C fourth (10:43.7) and Odvody of W-C fifth (10:45.79) and T.C’s Justus Wehrman sixth (10:58.46). Gavin Gerths was third in the 110m hurdles for FHS (:16.12) while Murphy Sudbeck was fourth for Thayer (:16.6) and Cash Keslar of W-C fifth (:17.17).W-C’s 4x100m relay team (Jameson Conway, Vlcan, Aiden Zajicek and Aiden Wright) were fifth (:46.59) and the W-C 4x400m relay team was third (3:35.17). Team members were Vlcan, Odvody, Grant Eschiti and Keslar (:3:35.17). T.C.’s 4x400m relay team was fifth (3:38.88) with the team consisting of Garret Smidt, Cole Spahr, Trevor Pearson and Kapke. Thayer’s 4x400m relay team was sixth (3:38.98) with Skylar Fischer, Gunn, Cole Vorderstrasse and Colter Sinn making up the team.Siems, Kapke, Rasmussen and Sammy Holsing of Tri County won the 4x800m relay (8:19.2) with W-C in second (8:26.27). Team members were Beau Odvody, Ryan Nicholson, Evan Odvody and Eschiti. Aven Smith of W-C was fifth in the high jump (5’8”) with teammate Jameson Conway in sixth (5’8”).Dalton Vanlaningham of Fairbury was second in the pole vault (13’) and Colter Sinn of Thayer was fifth (11’6”). Blake Gunn of Thayer was second in the long jump (20’8”) with Jerik Mans third (19’9”) while Nic Smith of FHS won the triple jump (42’4”), followed by Blake Gunn of Thayer (41’3”). Tri County’s Cooper Stokebrand won the shot put (51’.5”) while Rene Monterroso of FHS was third (48’1.5”). Aiden Zajicek of W-C was sixth (43’4.75”). Stokebrand also won the discus (163’4”) over Kiffin Theobald of Fillmore Central (149’4”). Vorderstrasse of Thayer was third (146’6”) and Monterroso of FHS fifth (140’9”). Placing sixth in the discus was Aiden Zajicek of W-C (136’7”).
