Warning: Bogus Bills Show Up In Fairbury

The Fairbury Chamber of Commerce reported Monday, June 27, that several fake $20 bills have been passed around recently.Technically, these are not considered counterfeit bills because they have the word “replica” printed on them. However, they resemble true $20 bills enough to be easily mistaken for the real thing. It is recommended that merchants take special care when accepting money. Bills worth $5 or higher have a security strip embedded in the fabric of the bill, which can be seen when help up to a light source.
