Warrant Issued for Macon Kaer

Macon J. Kaer, age 36, of Fairbury, was scheduled to be arraigned in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, but failed to appear. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge.Kaer is charged with driving under a suspended license and driving without valid registration, both class 3 misdemeanors punishable by three months in jail and a $500 fine; and also driving without proof of insurance, a class 2 misdemeanor punishable by six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.County Attorney Joseph Casson asked that an arrest warrant be issued and Judge Bauer granted the motion.Kaer is also facing charges in Gage County. He was arraigned in Gage County Court on January 10, 2023. Jeffrey A. Gaertig was the presiding judge.In this case, Kaer is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of tampering with physical evidence, each a class 4 felony punishable by two years in prison, one year of post-release supervision and a $10,000 fine. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction.According to the arrest affidavit, a Beatrice Police Officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle with expired license plate stickers on December 19, 2022. The driver was identified as Kaer. He was unable to provide proof of registration or insurance. The officer indicated pat down search of Kaer uncovered a syringe that field tested positive for methamphetamine.A searched of the vehicle uncovered more contraband, which was sent to the Nebraska State Patrol lab for further testing.The defendant is currently free on a $3,500 (10 percent) bond.
