Wayne Busing

Wayne Busing, 78 of Pataskala, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 26, 2023 in Columbus, Ohio. Norval Wayne was born August 17, 1944 to Iola (Dibben) Sims and the late N. W. “Took” Sims. Wayne’s early years were spent in Alexandria, Nebraska where his mother met and married Paul Busing. Wayne was adopted by Paul and they moved to the Busing family farm next to the Alexandria State Lakes. In the early 1950’s the growing family moved to rural Fairbury, Nebraska where Wayne attended St. Michael’s School and Fairbury High School graduating in 1962.Wayne enlisted in the Air Force in October 1963 and served most of his enlistment in Germany. He was honorably discharged in June 1968 and moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. He and his first wife adopted a son. Wayne married Muriel (Esveld) Busing on May 27, 1978 and they lived first in Fort Wayne, Indiana and later moved to Ohio for his employment with the American Electric Power Co. where he worked in station design.A man of faith, he was an avid reader and lover of nature. He also enjoyed woodworking, photography, watercolors, bicycling and bird watching.He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe Busing, sister Patricia Lawrence, in-laws Brenda (Mark) Busing, Patrick Lashley, Mark Lawrence and Lori (Bill) Busing. Survivors are beloved wife of almost 45 years, Muriel, son Todd and 4 grandchildren of Michigan, siblings: Fred of Mountain Home, ID, Nancy Lashley of Stapleton, NE and the following all of Fairbury, NE: Donna (Doug) Shultz, Mark (Diana), Bruce (Suzy), George “Bill”, Linda (Kent) Siebe, Earl and sister-in-law Sandra Busing. Other survivors include in-laws Kenneth (Louise) Esveld and Phyllis (Marvin) Pothoven, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.Honoring Wayne’s wishes he has been cremated, and his created remains will be taken to his beloved Lake Michigan, where he enjoyed spending time and was looking forward to retirement there. A memorial visitation and service of memory will be held April 21, 2023 at the Hoskinson Mortuary in Kirkersville, Ohio.
