WIC Online Ordering Pilot Program

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), in partnership with Minnesota WIC, and Iowa WIC, was awarded a sub-grant by the Center for Nutrition and Health Impact to implement online ordering for WIC. Nebraska started piloting online ordering at one Hy-Vee store in Lincoln in March 2024. In May 2024, this pilot project expanded to Hy-Vee locations across Nebraska that offer online pickup service.“The success of this project is due to several years of hard work, dedication, and collaboration of the Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota WIC teams," said Charity Menefee, Director of the Division of Public Health at Nebraska DHHS. “The Nebraska WIC program serves about 35,000 eligible people across our great state each month. This online ordering component to our WIC program will increase access to nutritious foods for children and families to support a bright and promising future for all Nebraskans."In a statement, DHHS said, "Nebraska WIC is proud to celebrate 50 years of supporting and improving the health and well-being of pregnant women, infants, children, and families across Nebraska. WIC is a vital resource in providing healthy food, nutrition services, health screenings and referrals, and breastfeeding support for families in need across Nebraska.
