Wolverines Battle Titans

Basketball: The Thayer Central lady Titans stand tall at home with stifling defense winning 44-15 against Wilber-Clatonia on Tuesday, December 19th.The Titans were led by Piper Havel as she ended the night with a double-double having 12 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. While Jadyn Bowman was able to score 11 points, have seven rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block.Thayer Central will begin their Christmas break and be back on the court Thursday, December 28th hosting Lourdes Central Catholic. The Thayer Central Titans come up just short losing 44-47 at home to Wilber-Clatonia on Tuesday, December 19th.The Titans were led by the duo of Sam Souerdyke and Will Heitmann. Souerdyke was able to score 21 points, grab three rebounds, one steal, one block, and three assists. Heitmann scored 15 points, had four rebounds, and one steal.Thayer Central will be back on the court looking for a win on Thursday, December 28th hosting Lourdes Central Catholic. The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines able to secure the win on the road 47-44 against Thayer Central on Tuesday, December 19th. W-C was on the road against Central City on Thursday, December 21st, The Fairbury Jeffs able to grab a win on the road against Diller-Odell on Tuesday, December 19th with a final score of 40-29. Fairbury was able to pick a part the zone of their opponents with the trio consisting of Blake Starr, Brodie Prellwitz, and Drew Watson leading the charge. Starr was nearly able to have a double-double scoring 11 points, had nine rebounds, three blocks, one steal and two assists.Prellwitz had 11 points, two rebounds, two steals, and two assists, while Watson scored 10 points, had three rebounds, one block, and two assists.The Lady Jeffs lost to Diller-Odell 31-46 on Dec. 19.The Griffins were up 14-2 after one period but the Jeffs made it interesting in the second quarter, scoring 12 points to D-O’s 13. It was 27-14 at the half. Down the stretch Diller-Odell was able to maintain a lead, outscoring Fairbury 8-6 in the third period and both teams scored 11 points in the fourth quarter.Leading Diller-Myleigh Weers with 27 points. Ashley Duis and Kenzie Strein each had six points for the Griffins.
