Woman in Custody Refuses to Identify Herself

A woman who refuses to identify herself is currently being held in the custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman, identified in court documents as Heather K. Castro, age 34, appeared in for arraignment Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, via webcam. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge
The defendant is charged with second degree criminal trespass and disturbing the peace, both class 3 misdemeanors punishable by three months in jail and a $500 fine. She was arrested in June 2.
When asked in court if she was Heather Castro, she told the judge, “I am sitting in for Heather Castro.”
When Judge Bauer asked for her name, the defendant said, “I’m not giving anyone my name.”
The judge assigned Public Defender Scott Gropp to represent the defendant and continued the case until June 28
Judge Bauer also said she would consider any motions for a competency hearing.
