Wymore Couple Faces Drug Charges

A Wymore woman facing felony drug charges was given probation after reaching a plea deal with the court. The court case for her husband is still pending.Anne M. Platt, age 55, was originally charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, each a class 4 felony punishable by up to two years in prison and one year of post-release supervision. She was also charged with two counts of possession of a legend drug (meaning without a prescription), a class 3 misdemeanor punishable by up to three months in jail and a $500 fine, and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, an infraction that carries a $100 fine. to the probable cause affidavit, deputies with the Gage County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Platt’s residence on May 12, 2025, at approximately 6:07 a.m. Deputies reported finding “an orange prescription pill bottle in a dresser drawer in Platt's bedroom. The bottle did not contain a label and it contained a variety of different pills,” and another pill bottle with “a partially scratched off label.” The pills were later identified as Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine (Adderall), Alprazolam, Cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride, Losartan Potassium and Tramadol.Per the affidavit, deputies also located marijuana and paraphernalia.In accordance with a plea agreement, Platt pleaded guilty in Gage County Court to two reduced counts of attempt of a class 4 felony, which is a class 1 misdemeanor. The remaining charges were dismissed.Platt appeared for sentencing in Gage County Court on September 26, 2025. Jeffrey A. Gaertig was the presiding judge. She was sentenced to nine months of probation for each count, the sentences to run concurrently. Meanwhile, Platt’s husband, John Platt, age 55, also of Wymore, is also facing charges resulting from the search warrant. He is charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, a class 1D felony punishable by three to 50 years in prison; two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon by a prohibited person, a class 3 felony punishable by up to four years in prison and two years of post-release supervision; one court of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. Nebraska law prohibits an individual with a felony conviction from possessing a firearm. John Platt convicted of theft by deception, a class 4 felony on October 22, 2009, in Lancaster County District Court. His new case is pending.
