Area Teams At Concordia, Doane Indoor Invites

  • Fairbury
    The Fairbury Jeffs were at the Concordia Bulldog challenge on March 14 turning out some great results.
    For the Fairbury girls, a total of 50 points scored which was good for third place among the 17 teams present.
    The Fairbury boys did not place in the top five as a team, but had plenty of great outings in the first day with top placements.
    Coming away with gold was Dalton Vanlaningham taking first in the pole vault at the height of a new personal record (PR)R 12’ 11’’. Nic Smith in the triple jump set a new PR with three jumps as his best jump placed him among the top five with fourth place reaching the distance 41’5”.
    For the girls, a handful of top placements with the 4×800-meter relay of Micah Friesen, Lily Davis, Zoey Frerichs, and Sam Starr running a team total of 10:44.49 good for second place. Starr would also have some solid runs in the 400 and 800-meter run as she placed second in each event. In the 400-meter dash Starr ran the time of 1:04.22 and in the 800-meter dash ran a time of 2:29.75. In the 3200-meter run Annika Mueller was able to run a PR time of 12:26.63 taking first in that event.
    For the field events Autumn L’Ecuyer started the season off well placing second in the shot put throwing a PR distance of 39’ 1” and then rounded out the top five of Discus throwing a PR distance of 108’ 8” taking fifth. Then in the pole vault, Lily Davis was able to place among the top five as she got third reaching the PR height of 9’5’’.
  • Tri County
    The Tri County Trojans competed at the Doane Class C Invite on March 15 with the boys placing third scoring a team total of 80 points and the girls rounded out the top five with fifth as they scored a team total of 40 points.
    For field events, Tayden Gronemeyer was able to soar into second place reaching the height of 12’. Cooper Stokebrand for both throwing events found himself among the top five as he grabbed second in discus throwing a PR distance of 141’6” and in shot put placed fifth throwing a PR distance 43’11”. In the long jump the duo of Pierce Damrow and Ben Holsing each placed among the top five as Damrwo took fifth with 18’11.75” and Holsing came up with 19’2” taking fourth.
    For triple jump Garrett Smidt had a PR distance of 39’1.25” placing him at fourth. On the track, the 4×800-meter relay consisting of Lucas Lewandowski, Drew Siems, Garrett Smidt, and Sam Holsing ran away with first as they had the time of 9:06.17. The 4×400-meter relay with Dusty Kapke, Garrett Smidt, Matt Scheele, and Kaden Van Winkle placed among the top five with fifth as they ran the time of 3:55.13.
    For the individual races, much of the same success as Dusty Kapke grabbed first in the 60-meter hurdles with a PR time of :8.99. Drew Siems was able to take first with time to spare in the 3200-meter run as he had a time of 11:07.86. In the 1600-meter run, Sam Holsing came up with second running the time 5:03.45 and Lucas Lewandowski ran to fourth as he had the time 5:09.70.
    Then in the 200 and 60-meter dash, Ben Holsing found himself among the top five as Holsing took third in the 60-meter dash running :7.39 and then placed fifth running 24.66 in the 200-meter dash.
    For the girls, in the field events Kennadee VanWinkle was able to place in the top five of the pole vault reaching the height of 8-06 giving her third. The 4×800-meter relay consisting of Kenzie Scherling, Evelyn Baker, Mckenzie Smith and Ellie Peters ran a team time of 11:42.00 giving them second place. The 4×400-meter relay with Ella Clark, Abbie Drewes, Olive Clark, and Isabelle Peters took second as well as they ran the team time of 4:31.67. The 3200 meter-run had Isabelle Peters taking second in the event as she ran 12:28.75 and Ella Clark was able to take second in the 400-meter dash running the time of 1:04.71.
  • Wilber-Clatonia
    The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines were at the Doane Class C Invite on Friday as the boys would place second (84 points) and the girls placed 10th (16 points).
    For the boys top efforts came from the likes of Gavin Vlcan placing in the top three in each event he was involved in as he took first in the 200-meter dash running a PR time :23.80, and snagged first in the 400-meter dash with a PR time :53.11.
    In the 60-meter dash Vlcan came away with second as he ran the time :7.23, and helped the 4×400-meter relay along with Cash Keslar, Grayson Vlcan, and Grant Eschiti take second as they ran the time 3:41.05. For Grant Eschiti and Grayson Vlcan, third placements in their each individual events as Eschiti took third in the 800-meter run with a PR time of 2:16.05 and Vlcan took third in the 400-meter dash running a PR time of :55.64. Grant Eschiti was also a part of the 4×800-meter relay with Jameson Conway, Evan Odvody, and Ryan Nicholson as they placed second with a time of 9:26.77.
    For the field events Jorge Vazquez was able to place third in shot put with a distance of 45’2.75” and Carter Skleba placed second both in long and triple jump. Skleba set a new PR distance in each event as he reached the distance of 40’3” in triple jump and in the long jump reached a distance of 20’2.75”. For the girl, top efforts came by Diamond Thompson placing third in the 200-meter dash running a PR time of :28.16, and fifth in the 400-meter dash running the time 1:06.21. For the girls in the field events Breanna Spilker jumped to third with a PR distance of 15’3”.
  • Meridian
    The Meridian Mustangs were at the Concordia Bulldog challenge competing in the forest division on March 15. Top efforts from the boys came by the efforts of Kolton Kumpf throwing 42’ 5” to take fifth in the shot put, and Coby Huls running the 3200-meter placed fifth as well with his time being 11:47.50.
    For the girls, Tyleiah Gooding was able to place in the top three the 60-meter hurdles taking third as she ran the time of :10.32. The 4×800-meter relay with Kendall Filipi, Maria Dimas, Evelyn and Jenna Woitalewicz ran the time of 12:09.13 giving them third, Jaylee Sobotka took fifth in the discus throwing a PR distance of 97’ 11”, and McKenzie Hofstetter took sixth in the 400-meter dash running the time of 1:06.59.
  • Diller-Odell
    The Diller-Odell Griffins were at the Concordia Bulldog challenge competing in the forest division on Friday, March 15. For the boys the top efforts had come by Teghan Rosebaugh taking second in the 400-meter dash running a PR time of :54.24. Callan McKinney was able to place second in the triple jump reaching a distance of 41-3 and took third in the long jump with a distance of 20’ 4”. For the girls Myleigh Weers grabbed third in the 400-meter dash running the time of 1:03.98.
