Jeffs Host Lincoln Lutheran

It was a rough way to start the season, with the first opening week of Spring baseball for the Fairbury Jeffs.On March 14 Fairbury was hosting Lincoln Lutheran, a game that ended with a final score of 0-12 with the Jeffs having five errors from the field. Then on March 16 Fairbury would host a triangular with Auburn and Falls City.F airbury would get shut out 0-15 against Auburn to start their day. However, finally runs would be on the scoreboard and the Jeffs would put out a better effort against Falls City, but lose 14-15 with the final score. From holding a 2-1 lead till the fourth before falling behind.Fairbury regained the lead in the top of the fifth scoring seven runs on three hits taking a 9-5 lead, would score six runs in the sixth, but none would follow those two big innings. A total of six hits for the Jeffs with Miles Tatro leading the way. Tatro would go two for three, one of those hits being a double, scoring one run, and brought in a team leading three RBI.Jakolbe Atkins went one for three with his one hit being a double, while having one RBI, and two walks drawn. Aldo Ramos went one for three and brought in two RBI, as well as Blayne Schelbitzki going one for three bringing in one RBI and drawing two walks. A bright spot for Fairbury came on the base-pads with a team total nine steals as Brodie Prellwitz led the team with four steals, Jamison Runge came up with a pair of steals, while Blayne Schelbitzki, Dakotah Neumiller, Dakota Zimmerman each had one steal as well.Fairbury hits the road this week as they’ll be facing Malcolm on Friday, March 22 looking to grab the first win of the season.
