Dan Tesar Track And Field Invite Hosts Several Area Teams

Mueller BreaksRecord For FairburyThe Fairbury Jeffs competed at the Dan Tesar Invite on April 17 and then on Saturday, April 20 were at the York Invite.The Dan Tesar meet was a solid outing for Fairbury in multiple events. The big news from that meet was Annka Mueller breaking a 28-year-old school record in the 3200-meter run. Mueller set a PR and the school record with a time of 12:07.56. The record was previously set by Bridgett Bell in 1996.For Mueller, it’s motivation that’s been fueled by the past, the present, and future as she said, “After I missed qualifying for the cross country state by just a little bit last fall, I set myself the goal to do better during track season. So, I followed a training plan and kept on running 4-5 times a week during the winter. There have been multiple occasions where I came close to get the record.“Unfortunately, until recently I was not able to. However, my coaches, teammates, and friends had my back and cheered me on. With their support I could finally break that record. Sometimes it is more of a mental thing than just the physical ability. I left traces of me being a part of this community just like two of my siblings did.”There were obstacles the day of the race: “I did not feel good before the race. On Sunday when I went for a run on my own, I tripped over the sidewalk, fell down and hurt my knee. Luckily it was mostly just a surface injury on my hands and my left knee. I wasn’t sure how this is going to affect my running. On the day before the race, coach Edson talked with me. He said that tomorrow is going to be a great day to break the record. I was so unsure but he tried his best to get rid of all of my doubts. I just gotta try my best.”Focus was how she overcame that obstacle.“I tried to hit the target paces during the race and just focused on my running. During the race I kept on telling myself that I can do it. With all the support from my teammates, friends, and coaches that cheered me on for the whole race I made it to the last lap.”A friend’s mom helped get her across the finish line.“A friend’s mom told me in the beginning of the eighth lap that I gotta go when I want this record. It was just amazing. So many people had my back,” Mueller said. “So, I focused on my final 400m. Long and fast strides. Give everything you’ve got. Look at everyone around you, they want me to get this record.”Girl’s Head coach Matt Edson said, “Annka has been working very hard this track season, we have had some poor weather conditions for our track meets. Wednesday we had a very nice day and gave her a great chance to break the record. I am looking forward to Annka improving her time for the remainder of the track season.”Mueller would also take second in the 1600-meter run.Other notable efforts from that meet for the girls was Sam Starr taking first in both the 400 and 800-meters.Lily Davis ran a PR time in the 800-meter run of 2:30.89 for second and Micah Friesen was third in the 800-meter run and fourth in the 400-meter dash.The 4x800-meter relay ran 10:15.10 with Friesen, Davis, Mueller and Starr taking first, the 4x400-meter relay with Friesen, Davis, Lauren Wanamaker, and Starr took second, and the 4x100-meter with Cambria Myers, Wanamaker, Regan Kapke and Sophia Meints placed fourth. Meints would also place fifth in the 100-meter dash and took fifth while setting a PR time in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of :18.94.The field events had Autumn L’Ecuyer take second in the shot put, Lily Davis placed second in the pole vault with a PR height of 10’, while Regan Kapke took fifth in the long jump and won first place in the triple jump reaching a distance of 32’5.5”.Top efforts from the boys came by Dalton VanLaningham taking first in the pole vault reaching the height of 12’6”. Rene Monterroso took fifth in the discus, and third in the shot put along with Christian Suchil taking sixth in the shot put. Gavin Gerths reached a PR height 5’2”, getting sixth in the high jump and set a PR time in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of :17.47 (fifth place).In the 300-meter hurdles Korey Nippert also set a PR time with a time of :46.23 (sixth place). Jerik Johnson ran a PR time of 11:25.46 in the 3200-meters (fifth place) and Nic Smith took fifth in the 100-meter dash and set a PR time in the 200-meter dash with a time of :23.97 (second place).At the York Invite the girls top efforts came by way of Sam Starr placing fourth in the 400-meter dash, and took second in the 800-meter dash with a season best time of 2:24.73. Annka Mueller was able to place fifth in the 1600-meter run and sixth in the 3200-meter run. The 4x800-meter run was able to place second as the team of Micah Friesen, Lily Davis, Annka Mueller, and Sam Starr ran the time 10:17.91. For the field events Autumn L’Ecuyer was able to place second in the shot put with a distance of 37-09.50. Lily Davis placed third in the pole vault and Regan Kapke was able to place second in the triple jump with a distance of 31-01.For the boys at the York invite for field events, top placements were from Nic Smith taking third in the triple jump, Dalton VanLaningham take fifth in the pole vault, and Rene Monterroso taking for both throwing events and set a PR distance in the discus with 130-11.Fairbury will be back in competition at the SNC Conference track meet at Sutton on Saturday, April 27th. Wilber-Clatonia:No official team scores have been given, but some solid efforts were put out by Wilber-Clatonia on Wednesday, April 17th at the Dan Tesar invite.On Wednesday for the girls, top performances were from Diamond Thompson taking third in 100-meter dash, second in the 200-meter dash, and third in the 400-meter dash. The hurdles races had the duo of Haleah Schuerman and Lauren Kuhlmann placing among the top five in both as Kuhlman took third in the 100-meter hurdles with a PR time 17.81, and Schuerman took fourth with a PR time of 18.26. Schuerman would go on to take second in the 300-meter hurdles with a PR time 52.36 and Kuhlmann would place fourth with a season best time 55.15.For field events Jera Schuerman was able to place first in the discus with a season best distance of 114-05 and Kiley Kotas was able to take fourth. While Breanna Spilker was able to set a PR distance in the long jump with 14-10.75 taking third.For the boys Jorge Vazquez was able to place second in the discus, and took first in the shot put with a distance of 47-06. The trio of Zach Marsh, Kenneth Guerra, and Tristan Pearce was able to place in the top five as Marsh reached a PR height of 5-06 for third place, Guerra took fourth, and Pearce was able to place fifth. Ryan Nicholson was able to place third with a PR height 11-00 in pole vault, while Carter Skleba took first in the long jump with a distance 20-08.25 and took second in the triple jump.The 4x400-meter relay with Cash Keslar, Grayson Vlcan, Grant Eschiti, and Gavin Vlcan were able to take second with a time 3:40.52 and the 4x800-meter relay with Evan Odvody, Aiden Wright, Ryan Nicholson, and Grant Eschiti were able to place third.The 300-meter hurdles had Cash Keslar, Henry Prokop, and Zach Marsh place among the top five with Keslar setting a PR time of 44.17 taking third, Prokop was able to place fourth with his PR time of 44.31 and Marsh set a PR time 45.76 good for fifth. Marsh would take third in the 110-meter hurdles with a PR time of 17.30 and Keslar took fourth with a time 17.31. Cash Keslar would also take fourth in the 400-meter dash with a PR time 52.46. Grant Eschiti would take fifth in the 800-meter run with a PR time 2:09.44 and Carter Skleba would place fourth in the 200-meter dash.Wilber-Clatonia will be back in competition at the SNC Conference track meet at Sutton on Saturday, April 27th. Diller-Odell:The Diller-Odell Griffins competed at the Friend invite on Tuesday, April 16th. Notable performances from that was Myleigh Weers taking first in the 800-meter run with a new school record and PR time 2:27.03, and took first in the 400-meter dash with a time 1:00.43 The 4x800-meter relay of Maddie Rosebaugh, Myleigh Weers, Keira Hennerberg, and Kenzie Strein were able to place first with a time 10:45.13 and the 4x400-meter relay of Kailyn Dendinger, Keira Hennerberg, Maddie Rosebaugh, and Myleigh Weers were able to place second.For the boys Teghan Rosebaugh was able to take first in the 400-meter dash with a time 52.93 while the the 4x400-meter relay with Xavier Zabokrtsky, Drake Day, Callan McKinney, and Teghan Rosebaugh were able to place fifth.On Saturday, April 20th notable performances for D-O at the MUDECAS invite came by Callan McKinney taking second in the triple jump reaching a distance of 40-10.50, and third in the long jump reaching the distance of 19-07.25. Teghan Rosebaugh was able to place fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time 11.36.Diller-Odell will be at the Pioneer Conference on Saturday, April 27th at Pawnee City. Meridian:The Meridian Mustangs competed at the MUDECAS invite on Saturday, April 20th with he girls placing sixth and the boys placing 12th.Top efforts from the girls came by McKenzie Hofstetter taking third in the pole vault reaching the height of 8-00. The 4x800-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay were both able to place fourth. Tyleiah Gooding were able to place second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.14 and Saege Barnell was able to place fourth in the 100-meter dash.For the boys top efforts came by Kolton Kumpf taking third in the shot put with a distance of 48-10.50 and Colby Smith was able to place fourth in the high jump.Meridian will be at the CRC track meet at Osceola on Saturday, April 27th. Southern:The Southern Raiders competed at the MUDECAS invite on Saturday, April 20th with some solid outings.For the boys Cooper Warford was able to place first in the high jump reaching the height of 5-09 and took sixth in the 200-meter dash.For the girls Karrigan Henrichs was able to place fourth in the discus throw reaching a distance of 110-03. Jenna Forney was able to place fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.84. The 3200-meter run had Isabella Hopper place fifth with a time 13:24.74. Tri County:The Tri County Trojans have an outstanding MUDECAS invite as the girls take first place with a team score of 122 points, and the boys would take second with a team total score of 100 points.For the boys, top efforts came by Cooper Stokebrand placing fourth in the discus, and fourth in the shot put. Tayden Gronemeyer was able to place fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 39-04 and took first in the pole vault reaching a height of 11-06.The 4x800-meter relay took first with a time of 9:02.27, the 4x400-meter relay took second and the 4x100-meter relay was able to take second as well.The hurdles had Dusty Kapke placing second in both the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. Sam Holsing was able to place fifth in the 1600-meter run, and fourth in the 3200-meter run along with Drew Siems placing third in the 3200-meter run. Lucas Lewandowski was able to place sixth in the 400-meter dash and third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.13.The girls top efforts came by Meila Gronemeyer taking first in pole vault reaching the height of 9-00. The duo of Ella Clark and Ashlynn Brown placed in the top three of the high jump with Brown taking second and Clark getting third.On the track Abbie Drewes was able to take second in the 300-meter hurdles running the time 51.02 and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles. Isabelle Peterswas able to take first in three events with Isabelle Peters taking first in the 800-meter run, the 3200-meter run and the 1600-meter run. Ella Clark was able to place second in the 400-meter dash, and third in the 200-meter dash.Tri County will be gearing up for the Pioneer Conference on Saturday, April 27th at Pawnee City.
