Blue Springs Man Gets Prison Time for Drugs, Theft

A Blue Springs man was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading no contest to drug possession and theft in Gage County District Court.
On Monday, August 7, 2023, at approximately 5:30 a.m., deputies from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a rural, wooded property in southern Gage County on E. Olive Road, in-between south 59th Road and south 66th Road. The search warrant was part of an ongoing burglary investigation.
During a search of the property, deputies located Paul Vincent Pond, age 44, and Amber L. Pond, age 39, both of Blue Springs, inside one of their campers on the property.
During a search of the camper, deputies reported locating approximately four grams of suspected methamphetamine, six ounces of marijuana, 108 unused plastic baggies, digital scales, plastic baggies with residue, and a large amount of pipes and bongs. Deputies also located items stolen in two recent burglaries in Blue Springs and Wymore.
Deputies arrested both Paul and Amber Pond and they were lodged in the Gage County Detention Center.
Pond was charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony, punishable by up to two years in prison and one year of post-release supervision; possession of stolen property, also a class 4 felony; possession of a legend drug, a class 3 misdemeanor; possession of more than an ounce but less than a pound of marijuana, also a class 3 misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction.
In accordance with a plea agreement, pond pleaded no contest to three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of theft. The remaining charges were dismissed.
Paul Pond was previously convicted of possession of both stolen property and methamphetamine, and served a year and three month in the Nebraska Department of Corrections. He was released on February 17, 2009.
Amber Pond previously pleaded no contest to two counts of possession of a controlled substance. All the other charges were dismissed. On July 16, 2024, she was sentenced to 24 months of probation. On November 12, 2024, a notice of alleged probation violation was filed with the court. On November 13, 2024, a motion to revoke probation was filed. Amber Pond failed to appear for court as scheduled on December 4, 2024, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
