Blue Springs Man Sentenced to Two Years for Drug Charges

Trevor M. Hurley, age 38, of Blue Springs, was sentenced in Gage County District Court on Tuesday, November 1, 2022. Rick A. Schreiner was the presiding judge.Hurley was given two years for possession of a controlled substance and six months for attempt of a class 1 misdemeanor. The sentences will run consecutively.Hurley was originally charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony; obstruction of government operations, a class 1 misdemeanor; and an enhancement of felony habitual criminal. In accordance with a plea agreement, Hurley pleaded Guilty to the reduce charges. The habitual criminal charge was dismissed.The defendant was represented by attorney Dustin A. Garrison.Hurley was arrested by the Beatrice Police Department on December 58, 2021. According to the officer that filled out the arrest affidavit, “At approximately 0340hrs, I was conducting routine patrol in the 500 block of Bell Street, when I observed a blue Chevy Equinox in the parking lot of Git N Split. I was aware of a blue Chevy Equinox registered to an address in Beatrice that had been involved in a pursuit in Richardson County, NE earlier in the week.”The officer wrote, “I stopped and attempted to identify the male that was next to the vehicle, at which time he fled on foot. I pursued the subject in my patrol vehicle for approximately 2 blocks, eventually catching and detaining him in the 300 block of S. 7th Street. While attempting to place the male in handcuffs, he was physically resistant, and continued reaching toward his waistband. The male was successfully placed in handcuffs and asked what he was reaching for. The male replied ‘It’s just dope. It’s just dope.’ The male was identified to be Trevor M. Hurley. I requested Southeast Communications conduct a records check of Hurley, which resulted in active arrest warrants from Saline and Richardson Counties.”In 2018, Hurley was one of three suspects accused of participating in a series of copper thefts in Jefferson, Gage and Saline counties. On April 3, 2019, he was sentenced to 36 months in the Nebraska Department of Corrections and 18 months of post-release supervision.
