Boys Wrestling District Preview

The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines competed at the Ron Severson invite on Friday, February 14th. Wilber-Clatonia was able to take first place as the team scored a total of 134.5 points. Notable efforts from the Wolverines came by Zaiyahn Ornelas, staying undefeated as he secured first place in the 120-pound division. Grant Eschiti competed in the 132-pound division, Ryan Marsh competed in the 138-pound division, Logan Zimmerman competed in the 144-pound division, and Iverson Mejia would compete in the 150-pound division, each taking second place in their respective division.Kearney Catholic will host the Wolverines at the Class C-4 Districts as W-C wrestlers will look to qualify on Saturday, February 15th with State wrestling in the following week. The Tri County Trojans will take to the road on Saturday, February 15th as they will be competing at Malcolm in the Class C-1 Districts vying to qualify for a spot at State wrestling in the following week. The Southern Raiders competed at the CRC invite on Thursday, February 6th rounding out the top five, as the team would score a total of 73.5 points. Top efforts from the Raiders came by way of Drake Troxel taking first place in the 144-pound division and Wyatt Forney taking first place in the 113-pound division. Coming up with runner-up finishes were by Blaze Barleen in the 138-pound division and Noah Troxel in the 132-pound division.Southern will gear up to hit the road on Saturday, February 15th as they head to Wilcox-Hlidreth competing in the Class D-2 Districts vying for a spot with State wrestling in the following week. The Meridian Mustangs competed at the CRC invite on Thursday, February 6th placing seventh as a team scoring 51 points. Leading the way for the Mustangs came by JD Adam taking first place in the 175-pound division, Coby Huls took second place in the 175-pound division, and Carter Haverluck was able to secure third place in the 126-pound division.Meridian hits the road and will travel on Saturday, February 15th to Central Valley to compete in the Class D-3 Districts vying for spot with State wrestling in the following week. The Thayer Central Titans competed at the Fairbury invite on Friday, February 7th scoring a team total of 100.5 points placing eighth. Notable efforts for the Titans came from Jaxon Bowers taking first place in the 106-pound division, Colter Sinn competing in the 120-pound division secured third place, and Cole Vorderstrasse also finished with third place in the 215-pound division.Thayer Central will travel on Saturday, February 15th to Shelton competing in the Class D-1 Districts vying for a spot with State wrestling in the following week. The Fairbury Jeffs hosted the Fairbury invite on Friday, February 7th placing among the top fivescoring a team total of 171.5 points giving them fourth place. Notable efforts from the Jeffs came by Dalton VanLaningham taking first place in the 138-pound division and Konrad Kuzelka taking first place in the 165-pound division, and Jerik Johnson was able to secure third place in the 175-pound division.Fairbury will travel to Waverly on Saturday, February 15th competing in the Class B-4 Districts vying for a spot at State wrestling in the following week.
