In Jefferson County District CourtThomas Van Caudy, age 36, was scheduled to be arraigned in Jefferson County District Court on Wednesday, September 7, 2023, but did not appear as he was incarcerated in another county. In Jefferson County, he is charged with burglary, a class 2A felony, and theft by unlawful taking, a class 4 felony.Christopher D. Drees, age 52, was arraigned on charges of use of a firearm to commit a felony, a class 1C felony; terrorist threats, a class 3A felony; and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, a class 1D felony. Drees pleaded Not Guilty to all charges.John A. Jacobitz, age 52, of Jansen, was arraigned on four counts: third degree domestic assault, strangulation, terroristic threats and false imprisonment. Each charge is a class 3A felony. The defendant pleaded Not Guilty to all charges.John Seefus, age 51, was one of five suspects arrested in a drug bust in Fairbury on December 16, 2022. He was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one count of failure to appear for court, each a class 4 felony. In accordance with a plea agreement, Seefus pleaded No Contest to failure to appear and the remaining charges were dismissed. He was sentenced to two years in prison.Warrants Issued in Jefferson County CourtSeth W. Johnson, age 37, had been ordered to appear in Jefferson County District Court on Thursday, September 7, 2023, but did not show up. Johnson was originally charged with terroristic threats, a class 3A felony, and domestic assault, a class 1 misdemeanor. In accordance with a plea agreement, the defendant pleaded No Contest to a single charge of assault and the court sentenced Johnson to 364 days in the Jefferson County Jail.
