In Jefferson County CourtCory L. Nutsch, age 34, of Fairbury, was charged with first degree criminal trespass, a class 1 misdemeanor. An additional charge of failure to appear for court, a class 2 misdemeanor, was later added. A bench trial was held in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge. Nutsch was find not guilty of criminal trespass but was found guilty of failing to appear for court. He was sentenced to three days in jail, with credit for three days time served. He was also fined $150.Casey J. Dayhuff, age 42, of Fairbury, is charged with possession of a deadly weapon, a knife, by a prohibited person, a class 3 felony. Dayhuff is a convicted felon and not permitted to possess a deadly weapon. He is also charged with multiple drug charges, including possession of methamphetamine, a class 4 felony; possession of high-concentrate THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), also a class 4 felony; possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, an infraction; and possession of drug paraphernalia, also an infraction that carries a $100 file. He is also charged with driving without a license, a class 3 misdemeanor.Jennafer M. Glaesemann, age 39, of Beatrice, is charged with failure to report an accident, a class 5 misdemeanor, and unlawful display of plates, a class 3 misdemeanor.In Jefferson County District CourtRhett Paul, age 46, of Western appeared for sentencing in Jefferson County District Court on Thursday, August 1, 2024. David Bargen was the presiding judge. Paul was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, a class 2 felony; child abuse or negligence, a class 1 misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance, a class 2 felony. In accordance with a plea agreement, Paul pleaded no contest to two counts of attempt of a class 4 felony, which is a class 1 misdemeanor. Judge Bargen sentenced Paul to 36 months of probation for each count, with the sentences to run concurrently.Timothy A. Moody, age 22, of Reynolds, was originally charged with two counts of third degree assault of a law enforcement office, a class 3A felony. He was also charged with resisting arrest, a class 1 misdemeanor. In accordance with the plea agreement, Moody pleaded guilty to the assault charge. The remaining charges were dismissed. Moody was given 200 days in the Jefferson County Jail, with credit for four days time served. He was then remanded to the custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office to carry out the sentence.Shanon Branson, age 47, of Fairbury, was originally charged with second degree assault, a class 2A felony. In accordance with a plea agreement, Branson pleaded guilty to a single reduced charge of misdemeanor assault. Branson was sentenced to 12 months of probation.David Loren Ebke, 61, of Fairbury, was originally charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, a class 1D felony. In accordance with a plea agreement, Ebke pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, a class 3 felony.Charges of possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction, were dismissed. Ebke was sentenced to two years in prison, with credit for 239 days time served, and 12 months of post-release supervision.
