Drug Busts In Fairbury

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office made multiple drug busts in Fairbury on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Four suspects in total were placed into custody. Traffic StopAt approximately 12:30 p.m. a deputy with the sheriff’s office conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 9th and F Streets in Fairbury for a traffic offense. According to a press release, “During the stop, the deputy located controlled substances and drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.”The driver of the vehicle was identified as Makela Grable, age 23, of Marysville Kansas. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Macon J. Kaer, age 37, of Fairbury. Both were taken into custody and booked into the Jefferson County Jail for possession of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.Kaer has a prior criminal record. On December 29. 2022, he pleaded No Contest in Gage County Court to attempted possession of methamphetamine, a class 1 misdemeanor, and was sentenced to 21 days in jail, with credit for time served.In Jefferson County, Kaer was scheduled to be arraigned in county court for various traffic offenses on February 22, 2023, but failed to appear. A warrant was issued for his arrest. He was later arrested and pleaded No Contest to driving under a suspended license and driving without valid registration, both class 3 misdemeanors, and also driving without proof of insurance, a class 2 misdemeanor. Search WarrantAt approximately 6:03 p.m., deputies with the sheriff’s office executed a search warrant at a residence on the 800 block of 9th Street in Fairbury. According to the sheriff’s office, an investigation into the residence and the occupants led to the search warrant and the arrest of two occupants: Spencer M. Fentress, age 62, and Tyler Fruge, age 29, both of Fairbury.Fentress and Fruge were both transported and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. Fentress was booked in for the charges of: possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession of a controlled substance – THC wax, possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession less than one ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.Fentress has a prior criminal history, including prior drug convictions. He was arrested in Gage County on November 24, 2020, for possession of hydrocodone, a class 4 felony. He later pleaded No Contest to a reduced charge of attempted possession of a controlled substance,a class 1 misdemeanor. A drug paraphernalia charge was dismissed.Fruge was booked in for the charges of: possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana less, unlawful acts related to drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.These cases remain under investigation as of press time.
