Fairbury Woman Arrested for Violating Protection Order

Christina D. Weidner, age 34, of Fairbury, was arraigned in Jefferson County Court on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. She appeared via webcam from the Seward County Detention Center. Linda Bauer was the presiding judge.
Weidner is charged with violating a protection order. She has a prior conviction of the same offense, making this charge a class 4 felony, punishable by up to two years in prison and one year of post-release supervision.
The defendant was arrested on September 27, 2022, after Jefferson County Deputies responded to a report of a protection order violation at a residence in Fairbury.
The judge issued a warrant for her arrest after Weidner failed to appear for court on October 26 as scheduled. She was arrested on November 28 in Douglas County. She was later transferred and housed at the Seward County jail.
Bond was set at $5,000 (10 percent). The defendant asked for a reduction in bond but County Attorney Joseph Casson objected to any reduction, pointing out that the bond is misdemeanor-level but the charge is a felony.
Judge Bauer declined to reduce the bond, noting that the defendant had failed to appear for court.
Earlier this year, Weidner was charged with two counts of violating a protection order, a class 1 misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
On Tuesday, April 22, 2022, were dispatched to a residence in Fairbury in response to a possible violation of an Ex Parte Domestic Abuse Protection Order. Weidner was arrested at the scene at approximately 10:40 p.m. She was later released on a $3,500 (10 percent) bond. On February 23, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from the petitioner at approximately 4:35 p.m., stating that Weidner was on his property. The petitioner was not there at the time but, according to the affidavit, the petitioner, “wanted to make sure that Christina was not there when he goes home.”
Deputies arrived at the residence and confirmed Weidner was on the premises. She was arrested at approximately 4:44 p.m. that same day.
In accordance with the plea agreement, she pleaded guilty to one charge and the other was dropped. Weidner was fined $250.
