Liberty Man Gets Probation for Assault, Stalking, Violating Harassment Order

On Thursday, February 23, 2023, Derrie Seeman, age 41, of Liberty, was sentenced to probation to three misdemeanors in a case that the Gage County Sheriff's office originally described as a “conspiracy to commit murder.”Rick Schreiner was the presiding judge. The defendant is represented by attorney Timothy S. Noerrlinger.Seeman was originally charged with terroristic threats and stalking, both class 3A felonies punishable by up to three years in prison, plus nine to 18 months of post-release supervision. He was also charged with two counts of third degree assault and violating a protection order, all class 1 misdemeanors, punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.The dates of the various incidents that led to the charges are February 3, 2019, November 26, 2020, December 20, 2020, and April 24, 2021.In accordance with a plea agreement, Seeman pleaded No Contest to one count of violating a protection order, third degree domestic assault and a reduced charge of misdemeanor stalking. The remaining charges were dismissed.The arrest affidavit is currently under seal.A search warrant was executed on December 9, 2021, at approximately 9:45 a.m., at the defendant’s residence in Liberty. The warrant was authorized as part of an investigation into a different possible crime. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, “The Gage County Sheriff’s Office became aware of a conspiracy to commit murder in the Blue Springs, Nebraska area. During the course of the investigation evidence was obtained that indicated 40-year-old Derrie Seeman and his 71-year-old father, William (Bill) Seeman, had been plotting to kill or have killed a family member, a juvenile male, and another adult male in Blue Springs.”Seeman and his father were both arrested the morning of Thursday, December 9, 2021. However, Seeman was not been charged with conspiracy to commit murder. William Seeman was not charged.Seeman was sentenced to 24 months of probation and 15 days in jail.
