Two Fires Thursday

Fairbury Rural Fire was called to a pair of fires Thursday afternoon, January 27, both happening at the same time. At approximately 4:00 p.m., Jefferson County Dispatchers reported a truck had struck a utility pole at Livingston Enterprises, 56265 702nd Road in Fairbury. A downed power line sparked a grass fire. Fire Chief Ken Krause confirmed no one was injured.While fire crews were battling one fire, a call for a second fire came in at approximately 4:15 p.m., at 70692 560th Avenue in Reynolds. The cause listed was a transformer sparking a grass fire.Both fires were quickly extinguished, according to officials.
