Wymore Man Given Prison for Theft, Domestic Assault

Skyler L. Hutchison, age 27, of Wymore, was sentenced to more than four years in prison for multiple cases on October 21, 2023, in Gage County District Court. Rick A. Schreiner was the presiding judge.The defendant was originally scheduled to be sentenced on August 24, 2023, but failed to appear. A warrant was issued for his arrest. He was arrested in September.In one case, Hutchison, pleaded guilty to third degree domestic assault, a class 1 misdemeanor punishable by up to on year in jail and a $1,000 fine, and theft by taking a value of $500 or less, a class 2 misdemeanor punishable by six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.In accordance with a plea agreement, felony charges, including terroristic threats and theft with a value of $1,500 and $5,000, were dismissed or reduced.Hutchison was sentenced to one year in prison for the assault and six months for the theft.In another case, Hutchison was originally charged with theft with a value of $1,500 and $5,000, a 2002 Ford F-150 truck, which is a class 4 felony punishable by two years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The defendant pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of theft with a value of $500 to $1,500, a class 1 misdemeanor. He was sentenced to one year in prison.In the third case, Hutchison pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony. A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction, was dismissed.Judge Schreiner ordered that the sentences for all three cases run consecutively, meaning one after another.The defendant was on probation at the time of sentencing in these cases.On April 21, 2023, Hutchison was sentenced to 24 months of probation and a $500 for shoplifting with a value of less than $500, a class 2 misdemeanor, and obstructing government operations, a class 1 misdemeanor.Hutchison has another case pending in Lancaster County.
