The post-season is in full swing with girls sub-districts taking place in the mid-way point of February. Some teams have seen their season come to an end while others are still surviving and moving on to the next round.Titans DominateThe Thayer Central Lady Titans claimed the C2-2 sub-districts championship on Thursday, Feb. 15 against Superior as the final score reached 38-31.Top efforts from that game came by Paige Tietjen as she lead the team with 18 points, had two rebounds, and one block while Natalie Tietjen had a double-double as she scored 11 points, snagged a team leading 14 rebounds, along with two assists.Coach Erin Kowalski was able to give her thoughts on the victory for her team and effort shown from sub-districts saying, “We knew it was going to be a battle, every time we play them it always is. We came out really hot offensively this game. Jadyn Bowman started us out with a nice three to get our momentum and crowd going. We ended the first half 20-7 and put ourselves in a good spot to start the game. The end of the third quarter we slipped a little and had a few to many turnovers, but we were able to keep our lead and knock down some free throws at the end of the game to help us into victory.“Paige Tietjen played really well for us offensively that night as she had 18 points for us. She was finding different ways to get to the basket and was reading the court really well. Natalie Tietjen also had a good night for us and she ended up with a double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. We overall as a team played some great minutes this game.“Winning the Superior game, put us into the district final game. This is the first time and girls basketball program history that we have ever competed in a district final game. I am super proud of these girls for accomplishing this for themselves and for the program they earned it.”Thayer Central will hit the road on Friday, Feb. 23 as they will be facing Yutan in their District C2-2 final.W-C Wins Over SouthernFor the Southern Lady Raiders, their season came to an end on Monday, Feb. 12 in the first round of the C2-2 Sub-Districts at Superior as they faced Wilber-Clatonia with the final score reaching 14-45. Southern ends their season with a record of (1-19).W-C moved on to play number one seed Superior on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Their season would come to an end as the final score reached 23-48 as Wilber-Clatonia season record ends as (7-18).Thayer Downs Tri CountyThe Tri County Lady Trojans have their season come to an end as they lost in the first round in the C2-2 sub-districts against Thayer Central as the final score reached 29-39.The Thayer Central Lady Titans claimed the C2-2 sub-districts championship on Thursday, Feb. 15 against Superior as the final score reached 38-31.Griffins Face DorchesterThe Diller-Odell Lady Griffins were able to pull off a close win of 48-45 against Dorchester on Tuesday, Feb. 13 in their first round of the D1-1 sub-districts, but would fall in the championship against Johnson-Brock with a final score coming to 41-61 bringing their season to a close with a record of (12-9).Lady Jeffs Battle CentennialThe Fairbury Lady Jeffs season comes to an end in the first round of the C1-3 sub-districts on Tuesday, Feb. 13 against Centennial with the final score reaching 27-42.Top efforts from Fairbury came from Izzy Ohlde scoring eight points with three rebounds, and two steals. The duo of Eliza Kroeker and Evelyn Timmons each scored six points. Kroeker led the team with eight rebounds, with one assist and two steals while Timmons had four rebounds, one steal and one block. Deja Vocleka also contributed five points, two rebounds, three assists and one steal.With the loss Fairbury ends their season with a record of (8-15).Meridian Pounds MeadThe Meridian Lady Mustangs start strong with a 56-13 victory in the D2-2 sub-districts first round against Mead on Tuesday, Feb. 13, but were unable to grab another win as they lose a tight game of 40-43 in the championship against Parkview Christian on Thursday, Feb. 15.Top efforts for Meridian in their last game came by Jaylee Sobotka having a double-double scoring 18 points, and grabbing 14 rebounds and have one block. Kaira Niederklein scored nine pints, had two rebounds, two assists, and one steal.With the loss Meridian ends their season with a record of (12-10).BoysMustangs Can’t Get By BDSThe Meridian Mustangs couldn’t slow down Bruning-Davenport/Shickley as they lost on Friday, Feb. 16 with the final score reaching 46-66 ending their regular season.Meridian hit the road for Lawrence-Nelson in the D2-2 sub-districts on Tuesday, Feb. 20 as they’ll face Red Cloud in the first round.Jeffs Hit OT WinThe Fairbury Jeffs were able to pull off the win in overtime 37-36 on the road against Falls City on Friday, Feb. 16 to end their regular season. Top efforts from that game came from Brodie Prellwitz scoring 16 points to lead the team, along with four rebounds, and three assists.Fairbury hit the road on Tuesday, Feb. 20 as they entered the C1-1 sub-districts at Auburn taking on Wilber-Clatonia in the first round.W-C Up-Ends CentennialThe Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines came up just short in the end of the regular season losing 46-48 at home against Centennial on Friday, Feb. 16.Top efforts for W-C came from Carter Skleba scoring 12 points, with three rebounds, and one assist while Grant Kuhlmann scored 16 points, grabbing five rebounds, swatting three blocks, and one assist given out.Wilber-Clatonia prepared for the C1-1 sub-districts as they headed for Auburn on Tuesday, Feb. 20 facing Fairbury.Titans Battle Fillmore CentralThe Thayer Central Titans were unable to slow down Fillmore Central on Friday, Feb. 16 losing their final game of the regular season with a final score of 41-54. Thayer Central faced Exeter-Milligan/Friend in the first round on Feb. 20.Weeping Water Slips By GriffinsThe Diller-Odell Griffins lost their final game of the regular season against Weeping Water on Friday, Feb. 16 as the final score reached 34-42.Top efforts from Diller-Odell came by Cooper Morgan and Tj Vitosh. Morgan would have a double-double scoring 12 points, snagging 12 rebounds, while having two blocks and one steal. Vitosh scored 10 points, and grabbed two rebounds.
