Fairbury Fall Sports Football Preview:
Optimism is in the air with the returning crew of Jeffs football for the upcoming 2022 season.
Despite a 1-8 record the previous year the Jeffs are returning several key players that proved to take big leaps in making an impact. Some of those key players will be James Olds who led the team in several categories with those being receiving yards per game with 81.2, total touchdowns with 11, 10 of which were receiving.
Coming down with 33 receptions that went for 731 yards has shown that Olds will be one to keep his eyes on this season. The man getting the ball to him would be from the hands of Jax Biehl taking the helm of Quarterback. Biehl was moved to Quarterback last year after a few games and did well with the transition that by season’s end had racked up over a thousand yards, 1,239 yards to be exact along with 84 completions and 9 touchdowns.
For the Jeffs defense returning impact players comes from the efforts of Devon Carel who led the team in sacks with five, caused two fumbles and grabbed 11 tackles for losses.
Protecting the air behind the front line will be coming by James Olds who was tied in leading the team in interceptions with three and Brendon Runge contributed two interceptions last year as well.
The Fairbury Jeffs will have a unique opportunity to be the welcoming committee to Tri County Trojans who will be making their 11-man football return this season as the two teams will clash on Thursday August 25 at 7:00pm.
