Griffin, Mustang Volleyball Teams Continue To Flex Offensive Skill

The Diller-Odell Griffins have gone 2-1 in the last three games and have moved to a record of 15-7.On Sept. 28 the Griffins took to the road to take on the Johnson-Brock Eagles in a battle that went five sets in favor of the Eagles winning 3-2.Despite the loss these Griffins had a great showing with Keira Hennerberg racking up 54 assists, Karli Heidemann would end up with 32 kills, Madelyn Meyerle would get 15, and Lilly Swanson had 11 kills.A quartet of Griffins would end up with two aces being served from the likes of Meyerle, Hennerberg, Ashley Duis, and Baileigh Vidla. For the Griffins defense Heidemann and Myleigh Weers were able to get four total blocks along with Swanson and Baileigh Vilda each getting three blocks as well for the team. Heidemann also led the team with digs getting 22, Meyerle would manage 21, Swanson with 16 and Hennerberg would have 11 digs.On Thursday, Sept. 30 Diller-Odell Griffins and Meridian Mustangs would meet in a triangular contest along with the Dorchester longhorns.Diller-Odell would win their first match against Dorchester 2-0 with the first set going 25-20 and the second being 25-15 and then would defeat the Meridian Mustangs 2-0 with the first set going 25-21 and the second set 25-10. Of the Mustangs who were able to contribute to the battle was Ally Kort as she led the team with 15 assists.Jaala Stewart led the Mustangs in kills with eight, and Kimberly Schropfer contributed seven. For serving, the Mustangs had Kiera Nierderklein, Brynn Holtmeir and Schropfer each serving one ace. Schropfer also contributed one assisted block on defense along with Jaslyn Ward. Kaylee Pribyl managed to lead the team with a dozen digs, Schropfer had eight, Jaylee Sobotka had seven and Stewart had five.
