Jeffs Defend Home Court

The Fairbury Lady Jeffs swept Wymore Southern in the last home game of the season last week.The Lady Jeffs sent off six seniors with a sweet taste of victory, the first two sets going 25-18 and the third set 25-10. Fairbury was led by senior Emily Huss getting 20 kills as the only one to reach double digits and also had four blocks on the night. Senior Allison Davis was two shy of double digits with eight kills, but had a great night facilitating as she as she had 13 assists to lead the team along with two aces, senior Alyse Petersen not too far from her teammate reached double digits as she gave out a dozen assists while finishing with six kills as well getting one ace. Junior Jayleigh Swartz led the team in aces served with three, and was joined with senior’s Baylee Tracy and Mikya Lierman serving one ace each for the team’s eight aces on the night. Lierman had another solid night on defense as she was able to get 18 digs to lead the team as Senior Hannah Robertson also reached double digits in digs with 11. Fairbury looked to end its regular season on a high note as they were on the road for triangular volleyball action going up against David City and Sutton on Thursday, October 6.The Lady Jeffs did just that going 2-0 winning each match 2-1 to end the regular season on a five-game win-streak. After finishing this week of competition, top performances came by Emily Huss as she was able to lead the team with 48 kills, and having nine blocks. Allison Davis was able to come away with 27 kills, four aces, and 39 assists, and not too far behind in assists was Deja Vocelka getting 35 assists.While Mikya Lierman defensively was able to get an even 50 digs and serve three aces as well.
