Jeffs Have Strong Day At Sandy Creek

The Fairbury Jeffs competed at Sandy Creek on Tuesday, April 2 with both boys and girls placing among the top five. The boys would place fifth scoring 49 points and the girls came in with second having 80 points. Fighting a strong wind and still coming away with top placements came from the efforts of Dalton Vanlaningham taking first in the pole vault once again as he reached the height of 11’.Nic Smith was able to take second in the triple jump reaching a distance of 38’ 10”. Rene Monterroso had a great day setting new PR distances in both throwing events as he took third in the discus with a distance of 126’ 8” and in the shot put would throw 44’ 9”. The 4x100-meter relay with Nic Smith, Brently Wilson, Dalton Vanlaningham, and Jerik Mans placed fifth. Gavin Gerths grabbed third place in the 110-meter hurdles running a PR (Personal Record) time :17.70 and Jayden James managed fourth in the 1600-meter run.The girls would dominate on the track with the distance beyond 400-meters. Top efforts came by way of Sam Starr taking first in the 400-meter dash with a PR time of 1:02 and came in first for the 800-meters running 2:36.97. Micah Friesen was able to place fourth in the 800-meter run and sixth in the 400-meter dash. Lily Davis took sixth in the 800-meter run, and was able to grab second place in the pole vault as she reached the height of 9’. Annika Muller ran to second place in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:07.07 and in the 3200-meter run finished second as well with a time of 12:54.13.The 4x800-meter relay once again was able to take first place reaching the time of 10:41.05 with Micah Friesen, Lily Davis, Annika Mueller and Sam Starr.Along with Lily Davis taking top placements in the field events as well, Autumn L’Ecuyer was able to set a new PR in shot put reaching the distance of 39’ 2” which was good for second.Taking first and setting a season best in the triple jump was Regan Kapke as she leapt to first with a distance of 32’ 8.5”.Fairbury will be back in competition on Thursday, April 11 at the Syracuse Invite.
