Swimmers at State

The state swimming and diving meet has come and gone this past weekend with the competition starting on Thursday, February 24 and going through Saturday, February 26.The trio of Mikya Lierman, Lily Davis and Avery Baumann each competed in representing Fairbury for a part of the Beatrice Norris Freeman and Fairbury Swim and Dive team. Lily Davis had competed in diving on Thursday racking up 132 points even, but was unable to advance to semi-finals.Unfortunate that the endeavor of qualifying for finals was to no avail, however Davis can look back proud on this season as she had set a new school diving record at Fairbury and was able to qualify for state competition. For Lierman and Baumann qualifying in numerous events was a trying time. Despite some great efforts, no hardware was coming home, but their presence was made known. In the 50 free prelims both Lierman and Baumann were side by side as each finished in the top three in their heat with Lierman taking first by clocking in :25.61 and Avery Baumann getting third by getting a time :25.63.Baumann had also managed to qualify for the 100 free and got second in her preliminary heat getting a time of :55.31. Both Lierman and Baumann were also a part of the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay but the relays were unable to qualify for finals.A solid season for BNFF as the BNFF girls ended the season undefeated, 9-0, and are set to return many swimmers and divers for next season with plenty to build off from this season.
