The volleyball season didn't waste anytime getting underway with the games coming fast as the spikes sent across the net, with some teams finding an early groove and some looking to regroup.Fairbury Lady Jeffs got the 3-0 sweep for their first night at home against Auburn. The three sets went 25-8, 25-22 and 25-22. An even dozen aces were served up as Sophomore Destiny Vocelka led the team with five. A trio of Lady Jeffs served up two aces, with that consisting of Senior Deja Vocelka, Freshman Evelyn Timmons, and Freshman Taryn Hinman, along with Junior Sam Starr contributing one ace. Deja Vocelka served up 26 assists with Evelyn Timmons leading the way with a lucky 13 kills, and Destiny Vocelka coming up with nine. Fairbury will be hosting Thayer Central on Tuesday, September 5th.Diller-Odell has started off the season well, as they're undefeated so far with a 3-0 start. D.O.'s most recent win was a clean 3-0 sweep against Southern on Tuesday, August 29th. D.O was able to show some great reaction time, made the most of the loose ball points when the opportunity came their way and served up 18 aces in resounding win.The sets would go 25-13, 25-9, and 25-10, as D.O was able to have 29 kills on 24 assists. From the 24 assists as a team, 22 came from Senior Keira Hennerberg who was able to join in the ace parade as she and fellow Senior Tatum Schroeder each had three aces served. Leading the way with aces served was Junior Baileigh Vilda finishing with five, and was active upfront as she contributed eight kills for the team. Leading the attack was Junior Myleigh Weers who finished with an even 10 kills, and managed two blocks as well. As the team racked up blocks, the digs came a plenty as well as Sophomore Berkelee Beekman led the team with 18 digs, Junior Ashley Duis had 15 digs, and Baileigh Vilda also made it in the double digits with digs finishing with 14. D.O will hit the road as they'll be competing at the Freeman invite on Saturday, September 2nd.Tri County Lady Trojans were able to get a clean sweep 3-0 against Sacred Heart at home on Tuesday August 29th, with the set scores going 25-20, 25-20 and 25-17. Tri County would be on the road for Thursday, August 31st, taking on Thayer Central and were swept 0-3. The sets would go, 25-27, 18-25, and 11-25. Thayer Central staying strong undefeated will be on the road Tuesday September 5th against Fairbury. Tri County will be looking to get back on track as they hit the road against Bellevue on Tuesday September 5th.Meridian Lady Mustangs stay undefeated on the season as they sweep both opponents at the Red Cloud Triangular. Meridian was able to defeat Deshler with the sets going 25-17 and then 25-12. Carrying the momentum into the next game against Red Cloud as the sets would be 25-18 and then 25-10. Leading the Mustangs on the offensive side came by efforts of Senior Jaala Stewart finishing with 10 kills of the team's 16 and contributed one ace. Leading the way with aces came by Junior Braxtyn Rut coming up with four aces, and Kaira Niederklein was able to get an even dozen assists taking the helm of facilitating. Meridian will be hosting McCool Junction next Thursday September 7th.Wilber-Clatonia Lady Wolverines battle hard to get a clean sweep 3-0 against Nebraska Lutheran on Tuesday August 29th with the sets going 25-19, 25-18, and 25-20. W.C managed to reach the double digits with aces served as they finish with a total of 11. Leading the charge was Senior Jera Schuerman with five, Senior Breanna Spilker and Sophomore Shali Mccright each had two aces, while Sophomore Claire Watson and Sophomore Lauren Kuhlmann each had one ace. Up front the Wolverines came away with 32 kills as Senior Madison Vogel led he charge as the lone Wolverine to reach double digits with 10 kills, Jera Schuerman was able to get seven, and Freshman Haleah Schuerman was able to get five kills. It was Jera Schuerman and Lauren Kuhlmann who each had a handful of assists with Schuerman reaching double digits with a lucky 13 assists and Kuhlmann nearly having double digits as well getting nine assists. W.C would host triangular action on Thursday August 31st and sweep in both games 2-0 as they defeated Sandy Creek and Heartland. W.C with a three game win-streak looks to carry this momentum on the road against Freeman on Tuesday, September 5th.
