Bulldog Track & Field Challenge

A brief break in between winter sports and spring has already finished as the Bulldog Track and Field challenge at the indoor track facility at Concordia University as come and gone. With the first meet done with and athletes looking forward to the next, the past week has left plenty to be built off of with the placings some athletes were able to accomplish. Meridian Lady Mustangs had a good showing placing 6th among 16 schools in attendance due to the efforts put forth by Kaylee Pribyl placing 3rd in two events with those being Pole Vault where she reached the height of 9’0’’ and in the 60m dash ran a time of 8.45. While also placing in the top five with 4th place in the long jump with a jump of 16 ½. Senior Kimberly Schropfer placed 3rd in the high jump leaping to a height of 5’0’’ even and was joined in the 4×800 with Emma Slopsea, Maria Dimas, and Evelyn Woitalewicz who as a team placed 5th running 11:46.19. Evelyn Woitalewicz was able to place in the top five with 5th in the 800m run getting a time of 2:59.73.Meridian Mustangs head track coach Chris Schropfer was able to reflect on the first meet of the year saying, “This was a very competitive meet so we were very pleased with our overall finish. We have a couple of injuries we are dealing with so hopefully we will get those healed up and look to improve on times and performances as we move forward with the season.” Diller-Odell Griffins were also in attendance for the Bulldog Track and Field. From that meet the top performances for Diller-Odell came from Senior Mallory Denner who took 3rd place in the 400m dash running 67.10 as her time, Zeke Jones came away with 3rd place in Pole Vault at the height 10’00’’ and Teghan Rosebaugh placed in the top five with 5th place in 60m dash running 7.58 setting a new PR for himself.
