Davis Headed To South Dakota State For Diving

A career record holder, and moving onto the next level of competition is Lily Davis as she recently signed to the South Dakota State University swim and dive team.For Davis, as a diver, the work was exhausting, but the rewards were a plenty. She is a two-time state dive qualifier and Davis helped BNF girls become back to back-to-back Greater Nebraska champions, and holds the records for a diving score of 213.8 in the 6-dive and in the 11-dive at 349.8 at Fairbury. Without her teammates and coaches pushing her to be better, Lily knows she wouldn’t be the same without them saying, “I can’t get to where I am now without the coaches I’ve had. I was grateful to have the supportive teammates I did and it felt good having that healthy competition to push our limits and be better than the next time out. A lot of the sport is about repetition, and having the coaches I did help me focus on certain things really took me to the next level.” As to why S.D.S.U came out to be the top choice, it’s hard to beat the feeling of home and connecting with the team and coaching staff, “Coming to the decision really came easy to me after the first trip there. It’s a beautiful campus and I felt good about it when I was walking around. It had the home feeling, and after meeting the team, talking to more coaches it just felt like the right place to be.”Davis spoke on her career saying, “Of all things, I love competing and diving as a whole. I’m going to miss the bus rides the most. Good days or bad ones, the bus rides were the most fun times I had with my teammates and coaches that I know I’m going to take with me for the rest of my life.”
