Fairbury Has New Postmaster

The journey is something that hasn’t been lost on Brandon McCubbin, Fairbury’s newest United States Postal Service Postmaster. For him as it’s all about making the most out of opportunities and being a part of the community. He has been with the USPS for 28 years, working as a city carrier for 20 of those years. “I was just thinking that maybe I could make a difference somewhere else and ended up becoming a postmaster. I try to make sure the customers are taken care of because it’s good for them to have one less thing to worry about when its done consistently like we aim to do.” McCubbin said as postmaster he’s a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, “You have to cover the windows, the carrier side, it’s day-to-day on what’s going on, but you pretty much be ready to do anything.”The career from small towns to the big cities have been eventful with memories and friendships a plenty, “There’s a lot of things that stick out, friendships I’ve made with other carriers, customers, especially in Oklahoma where I first started. I had tons, tons of customers I was friends with there. It was a small community and there were plenty of times I was helping them out with things and they did the same.” When he’s not working, McCubbin is either camping or fishing, which he said is, “pretty easy to do around here.”
