Junior District Baseball Post Season Starts For Local Teams

A season’s worth of hard work finally culminating into postseason play as the Junior Districts were underway with many teams looking for that state baseball opportunity. Wilber Picks Up Win Over South CentralThe Wilber Legion Post 101 Juniors managed to stay alive and thrive thus far in the tournament as they opened their first round Friday, July 7 with a 9-0 victory against South Central. Wilber was unable to find the rhythm for offense the next game losing 0-6 in the second round against Tecumseh on Saturday, July 8. Wilber bounced back to avoid elimination with an 11-2 victory against Tri County on Sunday, July 9.Wilber will have taken on Geneva Monday, July 10 vying for the District Championship opportunity on Tuesday, July 11 with a state playoff spot up for grabs with coverage from those games in the Friday Digital edition. Landsharks End Season Against AuroraFairbury Landsharks Juniors season reached its end as they lost 0-11 against Sutton on Saturday, July 8, and then 2-10 against Aurora Sunday, July 9 as Fairbury ends the season with a record of 1-17.Hebron Has Big Victory Against Tri CountyThe Hebron Juniors season came to an end after they started the tournament off hot with a 13-5 victory against Tri County on Friday, July 7, but things took a turn after losing 4-12 in the Saturday, July 8 match against Geneva.Though the best fight possible was given, it wasn’t enough to avoid elimination as they lost a close one, 8-11, to South Central on Sunday, July 9 as Hebron ended their season with a record of (5-16). Tri County Goes Down SwingingThe Tri County Juniors were unable to punch their ticket to state as they were unable to slow down Hebron on July 7, losing 5-13, and then on Sunday, July 9 would lose 2-11 against Wilber.The Tri County Juniors season ends with a record of (7-12). Wymore Offense StallsWymore’s Juniors could not find the bats needed to move on to state as they lost on Friday, July 7 to Tecumseh with a final score reaching 0-15.Then on Saturday, July 8 Wymore would then lose to South Central as the final score was 1-9.Wymore ended their season with a record of (2-16).
